I called my #California assemblymember's office to express opposition to AB 1709 & the aide who took my call said "That's Assemblymember Lowenthal's bill" and tried to get me to contact Lowenthal instead. Had to argue w/the aide that I opposed a bill that MY assemblymember was a co-author of, and I wanted my opposition recorded.

Prof Simon Keay was indeed influential! He was a lead instructor for an online class (MOOC through Futurelearn) I took several years ago. The topic was the archaeology of Portus, the port of ancient Rome. I enjoyed the class so much, I visited Portus during a trip to Italy and really enjoyed seeing the site in person.

#LA_Times columnist Bill Shaikin makes the case that the World Series champion #Dodgers (team of the legendary Jackie Robinson) should not go to the White House. Manager Dave Roberts says he's still willing to go: "It doesn't matter who is in the office, I'm going to go to the White House...I am going to continue to try to do what tradition says...I am not a politician."
Dave Roberts is the son of an African American father and Japanese mother.
