@Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt one source of this confusion is that most people literally can't imagine what it'd be like to have work that they don't hate doing. most people also can't imagine what it'd be like to have work that isn't an obvious waste of time, that accomplishes anything but concentrating wealth where it's already too concentrated. having (infinite) work to do that's onerous and pointless not only creates a yearning to avoid work, but also kills our capacity to envision work that's worthwhile.

@Bic@piaille.fr I am anti many technologies, and I think computing ought to have stopped at 16 bits. but we need to be accurate about which bad outcomes can be blamed on technology per se, and which are due to capitalism - accelerating deliberate obsolescence, mandatory "market growth" while ignoring real costs to ecosystems and people, etc.
our billionaire overlords could (and would) just as easily make us waste our lives / destroy the earth making products other than apps and phones.

So what I actually need is some kind of like permaculture / sustainable eco-redesign book, except the thing that needs redesigning isnt a garden, it’s uhh, nearly all of the relationships and social dynamics in a woman’s life because they mostly not only fail abjectly to provide her with actual mission-critical support but they also wraith-suck her energy and emotional labor away, kind of like having to spend your last few cents on food but it contains no nutrition anyway. Please not by AI tho.

My big question is, did this purchase happen because Suno is so much more lucrative than Bandcamp or whatever else songkick does? Or is Suno's wealth just an illusion of profitability, that really consists of unsustainable loss-leader compute pricing plus piles of venture capital scammed from tech investors? It all smells like a shell game to me.
