@schwa@mastodon.social Do you still have this problem?

I ran into it after restoring a full backup from Time Machine to a new Mac; Sequoia on both source and target. Reminders was entirely blank on my new Mac (no entries in the sidebar, like in your case).

This helped me (the post that I link to, and the one that it quotes): https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/reminders-app-on-mac-blank-after-migrating-to-new-mac.2393387/post-33856362

The main difference was that I killed “remindd” in Activity Monitor *before* deleting the directories, to be sure that it didn’t try a sync before I rebooted.

This is so incredibly sweet, and so purely true.

This is me. This is us.

We deserve some cake, every once in a while.

@gedeonm@mastodon.social Ha! I got so wrapped up in my nostalgia that I forgot to say what I originally meant to reply about. 🙃 I have no memory of John de Lancie in “Emergency!” And this, despite the fact that I would have been old enough when he was on that show, and it was close enough to his time on STTNG, that I could have made the link. What a great find. Thank you for sharing that photo!

@gedeonm@mastodon.social Oh, wow. I absolutely loved “Emergency!” and “Adam 12” (which someone else mentioned, too). I had the “Emergency!” lunchbox (metal, of course, as they were back then). It became a storage box for small toys when I retired it. My uncle was a firefighter, and I *so* wanted to be one when I grew up. One Christmas, I got his fire department chief’s metal helmet as a gift after they switched to the then-new non-conductive helmets. I still have the helmet, but not sure about the lunchbox.

@gedeonm@mastodon.social On a positive note: I enjoy your Lego posts in general. I’m really looking forward to see what this latest thread of Lego posts leads up to!

@gedeonm@mastodon.social This is really disappointing to hear. I have had some very good experiences with Lego’s customer support in the past, with them often going above and beyond to help me. But I agree: the order should have been correct in the first place without your having to spend extra time on it – especially since you’d already spent extra money compared to other sources. 😕 I hope that things work out for you!

@schwa@mastodon.social That’ll do it! 😜 I don’t know my way around all of the various container directories, so my nuking wasn’t successful until I’d done it in the places that those people listed in their posts.

I pine for the days when holding down the Option key revealed in-app reset functions. It was still a non-obvious thing to do, but it at least avoided having to wade through a potential minefield of preference and state files.

I’m glad that you were able to work it out!

@gedeonm@mastodon.social Agreed on all points. It seems silly to have to spend this extra time (on both sides) for something that’s not worth much in dollar amounts, when Lego could’ve/should’ve done it right in the first place. As for your project, I’m personally happy to wait to see the results because I enjoy the process of these kinds of things. But in this case, I can entirely understand that you *wouldn’t* like the process! I hope that Lego makes things right – and sooner than later. Good luck to you!

@gedeonm@mastodon.social Thanks to you for posting the image that brought these nice memories back! I honestly can’t remember when I last thought of those shows, but they were must-see TV for young me well before that ever existed as a slogan.

@gedeonm@mastodon.social I loved that premiere episode and religiously watched the first season and beyond. Having only been able to enjoy Trek “second hand”, with STTOS in syndicated reruns and buying books (new and used), besides the rare movie, it was so great to get a new TV series. I was happy for its hopeful view not only of the our future, but of Trek’s future. (Klingons as allies!) A cynical teen who grew up in the Cold War, I needed that. STTNG has always been “my” Trek, and always will be.
