Over the bank holiday weekend I managed to attend a few carboots among the things I purchased were 3x working Brix /NUC style motherboards (1x n2807 and 2 x j1900), they were apparently extracted from embedded devices, so do not have cases, additionally they require a hard drive cabje, of which I only have 1.

Soo it looks like I'll be taking a gander at eBay to see if there are compatible cases and HDD cables out there.

Afternoon all

Got a couple of bargains at the charity shop today

The best of which is a Samsung 32D850 monitor for £35, its a 2560x1440p monitor who's only "downside" is that its 60hz only

I also picked up a Cudy RE1200 extender for £3 (will be going to my kids moms place to improve 5GHz coverage )

And a Sodola SL-2.5GE-SFP RJ45 for £2

All in all, a pretty good haul.

Today's main carboot purchase was a boxed Flex Power Supply, which appeared to be in good condition. I negotiated the cost down to £12 from £15...

This saved me wasting £3 more than I did as the power supply tripped the power to my flat during testing

Its not often it happens, but is a reminder that even goods that look great can still be turds

I did also pick up Endgame on Bluray for £2 which I hope fares better.

After the Carboot I went to the local CEX shop and got Iron Man3 for £1, Civil War for £1.50 and 2x sticks of Fury HyperX ddr3 1600MHz ram for £1.50 each

evening all, dont forget to update your kernel as soon as your Linux distro releases a copy-fail mitigated kernel.

just-a-waiting on Trixie Backports to get 6.19.13 from forky

/rant Youtubers, take note of something that irrationally irks me and most likely many others Debian is a portmanteau of the names Deborah and Ian Or more specifically "Deb" and "Ian" Not deeeb and ian its "Deb Ian" not "Deeb Ian" As annoyances go It's up there with the "Lin nux" and Lye nux" To to recap both its... Deb Ian (Debian) & Lin Nux (Linux) Thank you for your time /end rant

OK so I'm looking for some feedback for a conundrum I really like and would like to use #netbird or #tailscale, with a strong leaning toward tailscale. But... To use either you have to use an OpenID Connect identity provider This is something that literally all the videos and tutorials skim past quickly, nothing to see here... The thing is that the 'ready to go' providers are Google, Apple, Microsoft, github and a couple of others. And as someone who has a healthy dislike/distrust of these companies and would prefer to degoogle and demicroslop wherever possible The thought of tying my mesh VPN to one of these providers just feels wrong, and if you loose access to your OIDC you loose access to your tailscale/netbird I understand that I could self host a provider, but that seems like an overcomplication and removes the simplicity of what netbird and talescale are trying to do The other option is to sign up to another OIDC provider like Zitadel.. Which also seems like an overcomplication Who ever though OIDC is more secure probably also keeps all their eggs in one basket too What would you do in this situation
