Rumor is CD Project Red will release a largish Witcher 3 DLC to bridge the time to Witcher 4. Problem is most people who worked on 3 are not working for the company anymore. Of the original ~240 overall team, only 100 remain. Of the 21 creative leads only a handful stayed. Those who left complained about a shift to Woke/DEI killing creativity, among other reasons.

@mechtildjager there is a deep divide between the Western interpretation of the purpose of this event and the Eastern understanding. In the West Christians believe Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice (as the sinless Son of God) to appease an angry God (the Father) on behalf of us guilty sinners. In the East, it is understood as God giving up Himself (through God incarnate) to defeat the death that the fall of Adam introduced into the nature of man, so that all who believe in Him may find (guided to) salvation. Thus when Western Christians speak of this sacrifice it is often with a subtle suggestion of guilt the receiver should feel. But when Orthodox Christians speak about it, the feeling is often wonder at the mystery of God's love.

@heavens_feel @Tamamo I feel this issue has multiple sides to it and almost everyone tries to reduce it to one

  • interpretation and understanding of intellectual rights/ownership
  • piracy and 'stealing' what's not available for purchase
  • Western influence in the creation of Japanese Otaku culture and works
  • the current state of Japanese Otaku culture (fake Otaku etc.)

I don't find anything of point 3 being a good argument about the other two points: All cultures affected each other to some extent after contact, even if that influence resulted in 'now I know how I don't want to be' or vice versa As for piracy, someone who could not have bought a product cannot be seen as having prevented potential profit. If Japanese companies don't care about Russian customers (as the person in the screenshot), which is their right, then they also cannot complain about Russian piracy. Gabe Newell understood something about this dynamic and it's one reason why many want their games simply on Steam, regardless if they could have them for free on the Epic store. If Japanese companies wanted that money they would find ways to serve that potential market. As it is, both sides have no good reason to attack the other, as customers from abroad are not entitled to be served, just like Japanese companies are not entitled to foreign money if they don't serve it. Finally, Japan today seems to have a very strict understanding of IP rights and the Otaku realm is not an exception. One could be sarcastic and accuse artists/studios who create Otaku content today as lacking self-awareness, since much of anime/manga content is inherently derivative and operates on something like a database that is mixed and matched, but that sarcasm would be misplaced and do injustice to the actual depth of many works and how that database is actually used when used properly (signs and symbols). I don't see how this issue can be resolved as it is ultimately a cultural divide between more relaxed standards outside of Japan vs. strict standards in Japan, and availability definitely plays a role in it. Japan is the mecca, the point of origin for Otaku culture. Perhaps a shift in perception to understand just how much Soft Power Japan has amassed globally thanks to it, could throw a different light on this debate.

Randomly checked the original Japanese text of a light novel next to the translation and I couldn't believe what I saw. The translator did not only change the form to something that is more hand-holdy ("I need to explain to the reader.."), they also added interiority that wasn't in the original. Literally inventing thoughts and sensations kek Not only is Western literature doomed and occupied by Jews and Wahmen, the moment they translate something from Japan they ruin it too.

Whenever we catch a whiff of the debate about fiction nowadays it becomes clear that its nature and purpose have been turned upside down in the West. SUBVERSION. The mainstream chorus in the West is certain that anime, especially certain types, are ESCAPISM. This branding implies that its creators and their audiences are living filth who should be deprived of human rights, gathered in camps, and silently genocided to make the world a better place. What is their crime? Their fiction does not concern itself with political activism, social issues, or the director's projected reality of being a miserable woke cunt, but instead tries to show something hopeful, beautiful, something appealing, fun, and in the best case something inspiring that speaks to the human condition. While the accusation of wish-fulfillment and self-gratification can certainly be flung at some segments (falling short of drama's sacred mission) no ill-will for the audience fuel their creation. But can political activism, blatant and paper-thin allegory be art? The counter-accusation to their Escapism is that no fiction, if it concerns itself with political or social issues, can be art, but has to be branded as ACTIVISM. For if Isekai anime are Escapism for ignoring social and political activism, then so are Homer's poems and Tolkien's epics. So are the works of Shakespeare, the monumental work of Dante, and the works of all great poets and writers who laid foundations and help built the house that we call Western civilization.. by cultivating the soul of man. So we arrive at the irony that while those who hijack, abuse, and exploit art for their political activism, with a shrieking appeal to 'real issues,' can only show for effect the uglification, brutalization, and entitled degeneration of society. While those who wander in foreign worlds, partake in great adventures, descend to hellish depths, and ascend to divine heights, pursue drama's true purpose, as our ancestors did for millennia: to cut through the noise of the now, and address man in his eternal spirit.

@Rom13AncapHypoc@fsebugoutzone.org @Arkana@poa.st @pepsi_man@poa.st The current day concept of "Jew" stems from the religion of Rabbinical Judaism, which came to be centuries after Christianity (year 0) as a rebellion against Christ. Jesus never was a Jew, He was a Hebrew, a Judean, and the prophesied Messiah of the Old Testament. To say 'Jesus was a Jew' is anachronistic. Ironically, it was the actions (Resurrection) and prophesies (not one stone) of Christ that made a continuation of the Hebrew religion impossible Christ was the fulfillment of that religion. Leading those who rejected Him to found Rabbinical Judaism.
