Open post Indiealexh @indiealexh@tny.social · 47mo ago Replying to @bramus@front-end.social I did notice that sometimes it doesn’t work, and the search API on your own host gives back a 404. The UI doesn’t handle this well and just keeps on showing the spinner. In that case, you’ll still have to do the manual steps. Don’t know what’s causing this. Maybe an overloaded server at the other end? @bramus@front-end.social I noticed this too. I can look at my server logs and work it out I think.

Continue using it - I do, too, and there's a lot of value of having projects centralized in one place.

but you **need** to make sure you have a contingency plan. is your repo with all branches and metadata backed up somewhere else? do you own your project's website, discussion forums, or something else that allows you to point your users and contributors to a new place if you need to?

can you continue work on your project if US-big-tech decides your very existence is no longer allowed?

now is the time to take inventory and build backups.
@denschub@mastodon.schub.social this is why I make my deployed infrastructure ephemeral and reployable anywhere else within 30 minutes of work and backup my data to AT LEAST one non us location and my own home.
