I guess one way to get over my anxiety and awkwardness is to just push right through…

@Chapz@mastodon.online I'm done though. You keep making up things no one has said to defend a a company with a $380 billion valuation. Have a day.
Replying to
@Chapz@mastodon.online Not a single person saying Claude is complicit thinks they are more to blame than this administration. No one, including OP, said users of Claude are complicit; just that your subscription money supports a company that is. If I could determine where my tax dollars went, they wouldn’t go to missiles... There’s a massive difference in doing what is required to participate in society and knowingly giving someone something you know they are going to use to murder people.
Go get it. Now. This an order. Loves using it and seeing the progress made during the beta to get to this point. Super smooth, super easy. @hiro@social.lol https://social.lol/@hiro/116534588306271591
So I did my first live video interview as the “editor of foofaraw" with Lit Mag News… it was weird and fun, and I nervously rambled a bit… but overall, I think it turned out okay… https://litmagnews.substack.com/p/i-want-something-fun-a-chat-with
Got a pullout couch for the office to replace my old, broken recliner so guests don't have to sleep on the air mattress anymore and the couch is so comfy that I might just nap—I mean work—from here for now on.

@hosford42@techhub.social @lienrag@mastodon.tedomum.net @mhoye@cosocial.ca The Anthropic CEO has publicly stated every use case so far by the US government, including the bombing of the school in Iran, is well within the right of the current contract they have (had).
The ruckus in the news is about an new, expanded contract where now Anthropic is putting their foot down around certain use cases (domestic mass surveillance, fully autonomous drone strikes), but they have no problems with how the government has used AI up to this point using their products in Iran.
I agree that that putting their foot down there, is a positive step forward, but I still think there are things that need to be reckoned with around how these tools can be used to intentionally (or unintentionally) assist in killing people.
Replying to
@Chapz@mastodon.online @mhoye@cosocial.ca You obviously haven't been paying attention to the news because they can determine how that tool is used. Guns are also used for hunting and self-defense, both of which are different than murder, but that's neither here nor there
Replying to
@Chapz@mastodon.online @mhoye@cosocial.ca I think the more apt comparison you are looking for is “guns don’t kill, people do,” (which, for the record, is stupid) but when you intentionally make it easy for nefarious actors with harmful intent to acquire tools that give them the capability to kill a large number of innocent civilians—especially when you know that’s the intended goal—you absolutely become complicit.
Replying to
@Chapz@mastodon.online @mhoye@cosocial.ca And either way, if you want to stick with your comparison, the government is basically saying, "I want to slit this guy's throat, give me a knife," if you give them the knife, you're complicit.

@hosford42@techhub.social @lienrag@mastodon.tedomum.net @mhoye@cosocial.ca This interview with The Economist from this morning is where I’m getting that from, if curious. https://www.economist.com/insider/the-insider/zanny-minton-beddoes-interviews-anthropics-boss
Edit: and before someone tries to correct me, he doesn’t explicitly mention the school bombing in Iran, but it is brought up, and he unequivocally says the administration has followed the current contract in regards to using their AI. Could he be cowtailing to curry favor, perhaps, because he definitely has been doing some of that.
@hiro@social.lol Would love a way to toggle more easily between the regular capture and the append to daily note capture that I have set up. I'm terrible with keyboard shortcuts, so I'm always just doing the main one and then remembering I wanted to do the daily note. If I could jump to that from my regular capture window quickly and easily or even a hint, that would be cool.

What are folks using for browsers these days? I found myself just using Safari for everything again, which feels a bit boring.
