Studio Gribbly back in live mode.
Of course, as we're discussing a Launch Gig for Agatewards, I'm considering learning new songs.
As a great man once said. "You do it to yourself, you do..."

Bandcamp Friday messages and my inbox.
Sorting merch out tonight.
Done black and and asphalt grey, but I'm quite taken with this Forest Green.
Any other colour requests?
I've uploaded a couple of single tracks from the 3rd W3dn35day livestream I did a few weeks back, ready for some promo around Agatewards.
At about 2:10 into Old Roä, Youtube decides to have a crack at auto captioning some of the Lincolnshire dialect.
Seriously thinking about using them as surreal lyrics at some point...
Here early, but we bagged one of the seats on the steps. Most civilised. My back will thank me for that later.
Anna Calvi and David Byrne.
So looking forward to it.
Absolutely horrendous service and customer support from DPD today.
Parcel wasn’t attempted to be delivered & then all my attempts to actually talk to someone about it through DPD support channels was an object lesson in enshittifacation.
Grumpy.
Long overdue, but I've brought @mirlo@musician.social up to date with my back catalogue.
And it's come on quite a bit since I last spent any serious time there - so much so that I'm making it my primary release store alongside Bandcamp.
Will finesse things a bit more over the next few days...
Well now.
Who wants one? 😉
Exact release date TBC - sometime late summer. We're discussing launch events right now...
Excited to get this out there...

Today’s the day.
Absolute scenes in the Thorpe back garden.
The follow-up track, Shedbuilding, didn’t do as well for Elvis Costello as Shipbuilding did.
Despite my comments in my recent vlog, Studio Gribbly (a.k.a. The Spare Room) is slowly getting livestream ready…
Well. That was a blast.
Thanks to everyone who came along to have a bit of a listen. I really appreciate your support.
I managed to get a recording, so will pop it up somewhere.
I'll also crop & pop a couple on TIBtv - anyone have a favourite...?

Would that more folk would adopt this attitude while driving.
This.
Just watched an astounding set from Pulusound / @ahihi@anticapitalist.party on https://stream.gravitons.org/ as part of the 3rd W3dn35day series.
Serious musical and technical skill on show. A really special set. I was a little bit in awe of what was being done...
There's some excellent stuff happening at the moment with online music in the Fediverse.

Favourite lyric from the dog walk music shuffle this morning

Starting to think about #NHAM live next month.
Doing a spot of sampling. Just gathering ideas that may or may not get used...
I can’t decide whether putting my back out will be a distraction from work or work will be a distraction from putting my back out.
Either way…
Ouch.
Is this allowed? Using one of my songs for #Tunetuesday #Travelsongs ?
Written around a field recording on the Adelaide Metro when I used to commute in from Largs Bay.
Kinda Kraftwerk-y in influence - but if you like it (or know someone who may), please boost...

Oops, I did it again.
I seem to have prepped another old song to play live, less than two weeks before my livestreamed gig. The song is all done, just need to add the video (Aha! So the song has a video....)
And it's not the one I was planning to do.
Could there be *two* songs int he set being played live for the first time....?
Getting there...
Not sure whether to do them all in the same colour or do different ones. Probably the latter.
Not least of which because I'm running out of Yellow Ochre...
Not the best start to the Bank Holiday Weekend. Man-flu kicked in on Friday (went to bed at 5:15pm!!), so yesterday was a write off.
Today is a little better, but I've a head full of cotton wool and tinnitus, and weirdly someone seems to have nudged my internal stereo balance setting a little to the right. 🫤
So much for my plans of working the new live set for #NHAM live on the 21st - hoping tomorrow's head will be a little bit clearer.
So, today is going to be an arty day. I can pop a record or two on the turntable and do some Gelli-plate printing, I'm aiming to do a limited print to go with a small number of my upcoming CD.
Will post piccies as I go...
This is a Public. Service. Announcement.

Back up your files, folks.
Then make sure you occasionally check your backups
Just had an interesting episode with GDrive, which fell into the 'all's well that ends well' bucket - but caused some grumpy gribbles action for a while.

That said, I think that Ableton is quite forgiving of just jumping in and having a faff.
Because it's so 'modular' you can pick an area, watch a video and spend some time just exploring - and often get results.
I've often done this with just the laptop sat on the coffee table with my headphones in and no controllers etc. The new(ish) generative tools encourage this too.
I'd recommend dipping into some Ned Rush videos on YouTube - he's often just clicking/creating/exploring.

@WiteWulf Indeed.

What can I say? I’m just a guy who can’t say no 😉
While I’ve just done a traditional set of songs, my plan for NHAM is to write something new. More freeform/semi improv.
I may live to regret that! 😆

No worries - it’s great that there’s so much happening with Fedimusic, but it means you can’t catch everything!
That said, pop the 21st May in your diary. I’m doing NHAM live. 😉

A little reminder:
If you're free between 8 and 9pm (BST) tonight, why not drop in and see what my spare room looks like...

I'll be doing a set of eclectic, but mainly quite chilled, electronica...
#livemusic #livestream #music #electronica #electronicmusic
...and new tune number 2 prepped and video'd up. Well, it's an existing tune - but new live.
If you know my stuff, you'll probably guess which one this is... 😉
So, rehearsals every night until the 15th to get them embedded in the old gribblybonce...

This is a beautiful, chilled mix for a Sunday. Just listened to it as I'm pottering around setting up the day.
Stick it on. It's lovely.
@trevlad@mastodon.world has a good ear. In a world of algorithmic playlists we need curators like him.

That feeling when you realise you're going to be working into the evening/night to finish the stuff you said you do today.
And you feel all the plans you had for doing nice, creative stuff just melt away.
Like tears in rain.
