For people on #Friendica and other platforms not compatible with the account migration procedure, you need to follow @FediTips manually if you were following the previous FediTips account. On mobile it works like this: Long tap the blue @-address in the above sentence, wait for the popup, then click the follow icon. If the popup doesn't appear (often with new accounts), copy the @-address to search on the top of the page, including both @'s, then click Search twice with a few seconds between. You can follow on the profile page that appears, and set any groups you want the account to be in.

Just back from visiting Veldhoven Zoo, and from cycling to and from there. Very tired. I took many pictures, both cards I had with me are full. Maybe I should not have left the camera on burst mode, and maybe I should have emptied both cards before I went there... It's going to take a while to sort through everything.

I like that some animals are free to roam around with people, farm style. And I like that this zoo started as, and still is, a sanctuary for birds. All these times people realise they can not keep parrots anymore, they go there. Someone told me that in covid times they received over a hundred parrots and budgies per day; I must have misunderstood. They also have a breeding program for eagles, which will be released in the wild in France. Apparently eagles don't form couples when in France.

Until two weeks ago I didn't even know this zoo existed, and I've lived here for decades. But a colleague mentioned visiting it with her little daughter, and I wanted to check it out too.

Diana, Luudida, on being alone travelling and content creating. She's very honestly showing how uncomfortable it makes her, and she does it anyway. I'm so proud.

youtu.be/Wq5hFZrZJvc?is=nklozA…

I'm not doing content creation, but I have experience of my whole life going to places alone where people normally go with others, and she's already handling it better than me.

For those who are scared of doing things alone

Crystal showing mathematically that dating apps don't work: youtu.be/9-VcIwUqKpI?is=SBFVmQ…

I think her maths is even too optimistic. It's quite a lot worse if you're a man, in one of these lower categories, and in your location N=3. E.g. she's talking about not all matches leading to a date and I'm thinking 'are there actually people who have any matches?'. I didn't know that if I were to eventually match with a (non-scam) person, there were more hurdles to take.

More People ≠ More Options (HERE'S WHY)

My new favourite chess Grandmaster.

Divya Deshmukh, 20 years old from India, is currently playing at the prestigious Fide Candidates tournament, where it is already an achievement to qualify for being allowed to participate. The photo is from the official Fide (international chess federation) Flickr site and is taken at that event.

It looks like she's making a name for herself, not just for bold moves and fierce fights, but also for showing up in very stylish outfits.

A super interesting video where Mithuna Yoganathan explains what would be involved in AI doing biological scientific discoveries and why the claim that it will cure cancer is unlikely at best. Mithuna is a super smart person (PHD in quantum physics) who doesn't have a simple knee jerk reaction against AI, like I do. She really gave it a go, as you can see on her channel. So, if she says this... And I really trust her opinion anyway.

Crystal explains what your favourite social media says about you: youtu.be/GspQt10qrgs?is=_NCo16… . Unfortunately she only does commercial social media. And even though she helpfully mentions that people should just start their own blog if that's a certain itch they should scratch, it is then tied to the sponsor of the video, Squarespace.

Me: I used to hate Tumblr for years, but then I stopped using it. I felt seen in that segment...

Your Favorite Social Media Says A LOT About You (ODDLY SPECIFIC)

The manual of the new old car. Normally I'm the kind of person to read the manual before using a device... maybe I have to resist that urge otherwise I won't make it to work tomorrow...
