If you see this around PDX, let me know. Someone thought it’d be funny to break into my storage unit. #portland #pdx

@aral I was reached out to about interviewing with them literally eight years ago and it was too odious even then. Surprised anyone would be able to stomach the trash at this point.

@aral What's old is new again. Shame on me for thinking we'd learn from history but I like to the think the arc of history will eventually bend back.

If I cannot beat macOS's ClickFix protections in terminal, I will wriggle around them by defanging the URL with a keyboard shortcut and then letting the terminal use that version of the URL. The small joys of making your own tools.

@cR0w@infosec.exchange to be fair, a work computer but all mitigations they tried on my profile were failing. I’ll continue to keep an eye out though, but updating everything I use for automation is pretty straightforward.

It's so fucking unfair that Nine Inch Noize isn't on wax. I'd love to spin this version of Heresy.

America’s relationship with railways is so absurd. It’s so essential that Biden had to break a strike, but any investment is considered nonstarter.

@abarker@mast.hpc.social I wouldn’t cut funding for what’s essential for the functioning of a city, but hey, that’s just my idea. It’s not a business, but the function of the whole place.

There's a not-insignificant number of decision makers in the US that believe that instigating a global war is a good thing. I kinda wish people had a grasp of this, but describing it sounds "conspiratorial".

I don't know if I'm being unnecessarily opinionated about software, but a lot of Chrome treats you like a newborn baby trying to look at the web.

@DaveMWilburn@infosec.exchange I believe Kagi has some of their own sauce that distinctly separates them from being a wrapper for Bing/Google like other alternatives. Whatever they’re doing is also pretty good quality tbh.

@mweagle@hachyderm.io reminds me of the exercise I’ve engaged in at every job where I repeatedly reinvent the safeguards because someone decided they were too cumbersome. The industry rewards the foolishness.

The amount of spam calls I get is genuinely staggering. I suspect it's the result of having had a phone number for over a decade in the era of the data leak, but it's still deeply frustrating that I need to pay for a service to filter my calls to prevent this from being more annoying.

I remember when “carbon neutral” was a big deal for tech companies. Now, we’re sprinting to make as many data centers as possible that turn energy into heat exhaust.

If the consumer cannot get power or the devices to “consume” AI, what the fuck are we even doing? This is such a bizarre thing to pretend this is not an issue that will cause massive social upheaval.

I guess it’s unsurprising the amount of corruption and graft we could uncover with a modicum of enforcement but here we are.

Everybody fights for overhead bin space on flights but then half the plane stands at the baggage carousel. Tragic. My lazy ass did the free check.

@Xavier@infosec.exchange Yeah, iOS has the whole section dedicated to filtering "unknown" numbers and allows them to say who they are and I can opt to pick up or not. For some reason, this doesn't work in CarPlay so it pauses my music while driving? I'll eventually look into that when it gets annoying enough.

Has anyone gotten any sort of ATProto bridge going more reliably? I do wish the two standards were more interoperable but ActivityPub is where I’ve ultimately hitched my cart.
