That took quite a lot of battling but I got the new #FujiNet proto board to come up on CoCo! I jumpered the pins for now to make it so all the GPIOs are in the lower 32bit window to make it easier to start from the PicoROM code. #3DPrinted #KiCad #Fusion360 #MSX #RaspberryPiPico #TRS80CoCo #RetroComputing #VintageComputing #Electronics

I did this quite a few years ago for a different event, but it seems appropriate to post it again today. #MayThe4th #RetroComputing #VintageComputing #AppleII #Commodore #TRS80

There's now a CoCo version of the case. I added some extra standoffs so the case can be used as a jig while soldering the two boards together. #3DPrinted #KiCad #Fusion360 #MSX #RaspberryPiPico #TRS80CoCo #FujiNet #RetroComputing #VintageComputing #Electronics

This is pretty neat! I can export a PCB from #KiCad as .step and import it directly into #Fusion360 so I can design my #MSX case around it. Too bad it doesn't export the silkscreen layer though. #RaspberryPiPico #TRS80CoCo #FujiNet #RetroComputing #VintageComputing #Electronics

This has taken several days to get it this parametric. But now I can go in and change the cartridge height to make it giant for say, a prototype board, and it will automatically resize and insert additional screw posts.

I've put the files up on github. Completely untested, I'm sure there's gobs of mistakes. However I *expect* that the boards will need to be modified and tried to make doing that as easy as possible. If you build this your computer will explode, your refrigerator will start cooking everything in it, and your television will only tune in to infomercials. 🤪 https://github.com/FozzTexx/fujiversal-pcb-prototype #TRS80CoCo #MSX #FujiNet #RetroComputing #VintageComputing #KiCad #Electronics

@TechTangents@dialup.space I was also thinking maybe it was the size it was so it could fit in an existing 8” bay with 3 across instead of 2. Because the future is 5.25” drives. But not quite. 3 drives are a little bit wider.

The boot on my DIN connector disintegrated and fell off. I don’t want to have to remove the connector from either end of the cable to put a new boot on. I feel like this is a problem that could be solved bub #3DPrinting but I’m not sure how. If I print a new boot in two pieces what will hold it together when it’s installed?

Today I decided I'd see if I can use #PrusaSlicer on my ancient #FlashForge Creator Pro. Got the hacks installed so it can spit out .x3g. Did a simple print of some action figure and it worked (but can't get supports off). Decide to try real model. Need to orient part face down. But it rotates all wonky. And rotation fields are all zero! Enter new rotation and it moves then zeros out the fields! #3DPrinting

Replying to
@huronbikes@cyberplace.social It's a prototype, not even close to complete. The board is designed to be easy to hack up and reconnect things as needed. It's also designed to be re-usable for bringups for more than just MSX. It's going to be used for CoCo, ISA, NES, BBC Micro, and more. Plus being a prototype it's quite possible that the RP2350 or ESP32 might get fried so it's good to that someone can simply replacing them without needing to do any soldering. Many people contributing can't do surface mount rework.

@LeadedSolder@retrochat.online You should probably wait at least until I push to a git repo. And I still need to get more eyes on the main proto board to make sure I didn't screw things up. The idea with the edge adapter is to solder a 2x31 header between the two boards to permanently fuse them together. Cheap and easy and uses a common part instead of some exotic/expensive edge connector part.

@Siff@mstdn.social That makes no sense at all. The position boxes show the current value. Zeroing out the rotation is useless. And once it's mangled the rotation then the snap points are based on the mangled rotation, so also useless.
