Inner West Sydney now has electric buses that were introduced with zero fanfare! They are quiet, the ride feels 'heavy' and smooth, and they make a pleasing dinging when they start and stop acceleration. #transport #transit #buses
@caity@bne.social Those little elastic pouches on the back of plane chairs are actually MOUTHS for the plane itself to consume your expensive devices. OM NOM NOM 💺
Thank you to everyone who helped me with suggestions for instances that might tolerate me. I've applied to beige.party.
Gayfr.social was created for queer French people but I like the implication I am gay fr fr fr
Fantastic news. Alex Norris, maker of the existentially angsty 'oh no' comics, signed a merchandising agreement and the merchandiser turned around and claimed it owned ALL the copyright and related intellectual property in his artwork. After an extensive legal battle a settlement has been reached that assigns much more limited rights to Golden Bell, the merchandiser, but it has been a hideous ordeal with Alex.
Ooh, Sonny Jane Wise has a new book out this year called NEURODEFIANT. Take my money!!!
Currently browsing through a number of instances that people have kindly recommended and I noticed I tend to treat 'be kind' as a warning that my variety of acerbic do-gooder won't be acceptable to tone policing mods.
Hmm. OnlyOffice lets you create little collaboration spaces around editing documents, called (surprise) DocSpaces. That is a winning feature right there; I don't know anyone who thinks e-mailing Word docs with Track Changes is a meaningful and productive experience in 2025.
@caity@bne.social I used OpenOffice.org as my daily driver in law school when I was too poor to pay for Microsoft, and after 3 years, as soon as I could, I paid for Microsoft. I can't stand their AI integration push but you can't deny the effort they put into smoothing UX.
@caity@bne.social I am an absolute fiend for losing glasses, looking EVERYWHERE for them, buying new ones then finding the lost pair...
@olav@theweird.space I am stuck with both platforms for work but I am hoping to find an alternative cloud solution for my personal life. And yes 'serious mess' is the description for it!
Just saw Conclave. Catholic purists will not love it. But I did. Immensely flawed but a cracking film — Ralph Fiennes gives a controlled but powerful performance and Stanley Tucci and John Lithgow are having the time of their lives. It's not a whodunnit but a howdunnit — imagining how the papal sausage gets made. #film 3.5⭐
Humid weather = Sydney gets a bit stroppy. Guys popping off on the bus, people crossing the road with traffic in both lanes, social workers* looking severely miffed.
* I'm diagnosing their employment from the pintuck dress, the Fluevogs and chunky jewellery
@ginevra@hachyderm.io If it's anything like running a 100K Telegram group, the thing that keeps you awake at night isn't the technical upkeep but the legal and policy compliance issues across multiple jurisdictions.
