Congratulations to Dr Terri Janke, Shevaun Wright and Matilda Langford for the immense effort that went into the documents. I've put some thoughts down about these important documents if you are interested in learning more: https://elliottbledsoe.wtf/announcing-the-wikimedia-australia-indigenous-content-guide/ #CultureStrong #Wikimania #Wikipedia #WikimediaCommons #WikiData @wm_au@wikis.world

For knowledge to genuinely be open the owners of that knowledge must want it to be. There is much work to be done by open communities to reconcile the goals of free and open knowledge with respect for Indigenous content and honouring self-determination. These documents are one step in that direction. https://elliottbledsoe.wtf/announcing-the-wikimedia-australia-indigenous-content-guide/ #CultureStrong #Wikimania #Wikipedia #WikimediaCommons #WikiData @wm_au@wikis.world

At the end of the month I am giving a talk at the State Library Victoria about the new orphan works scheme in the Copyright Act and why libraries and other cultural organisations should know about it. And I will share some insights about the AI policy work I have been doing with SLV. If you are in Melbourne, I would love to see you there!
