@janneke@todon.nl Are you referring to Everything? It's been ages since I used Windows, but Everything _was_ great! The closest *nix counterpart would probably be locate(1), as both use a prebuilt index, but Everything uses some fancy NTFS features to keep the index always updated, pretty much for free, while locate has to rescan the entire fs every day or so. Maybe you can get by without an index - in practice bfs(1) tends to be fast enough for me on my SSD - but without one you can't really implement niceties such as instant incremental search.

@soatok Any clues as to how that would be done, to someone unfamiliar with the Matrix protocol (but willing to read up)? I'm trying to understand the actual impact here - I don't get why the key exchange resulting in the identity key is bad within the context of Matrix specifically.

@alderwick Note that unveil would be useless for this, as it only affects the process it's run in. exec() resets the unveil state, and your child processes can do whatever they want. It's a common misconception people have about unveil but OpenBSD refuses to document this :(

@davidgerard@circumstances.run Fuck Framework, but isn't that relatively standard practice? Patenting something and then dedicating the patent to the public domain to keep it open. IANAL, and I don't remember the exact reasoning behind that practice (been a while since I've read about patent law), but I think this lets you avoid future disputes with patent trolls or something like that? I've definitely seen patents made with the explicit purpose of making them public domain and preventing further patents before.
