@workchronicles@mastodon.social I watched a video on #Bethesda's decline just yesterday, apparently there were 14 layers of management to go through for each little thing the production team wanted to do

@gamingonlinux Epic Layoff!

@DavidM_yeg it's just a marketing term, similar to "special military operation". It just means war

@edsanders2@mstdn.social @selzero@syzito.xyz best part is that the toll must be paid in Yuan or Bitcoin. So Iran is now sitting on a steady Bitcoin flood that cannot be sanctioned and is helping the adoption of Yuan as a global currency. I personally wish the Petrolbitcoin would win, but either option doesn't need the USD at all. Trump's pretty much shot himself in the foot imho

@selzero@syzito.xyz reading that last thing I totally believe he's on the verge of a hysterical crisis. He must be struggling to hold tears back. OPEN IT! FUCKING OPEN IT I SAY!! GUUUUUHHHHH!!!

@brauner from a quick look, I think you got it all wrong. Done like that it wouldn't be an issue for anyone, an annoyance at best. As I understand it tho you need someone to manually verify people's IDs, then store said IDs safely and have a server that will reply what age group a user belongs to. Any app will then have to ask the kernel for that age group and the kernel would have to forward each query to that server along with the info to identify the current user

@kazord @gamingonlinux "aren't related to #AI" that's likely true as in devs didn't get replaced by sentient laptops, however AI driving the price of hardware up means players have less money to spend on games, dev machines and build servers cost more, subcontractors fees get higher, cloud and infrastructure's bill increases. So in that sense it's very related to AI

@arstechnica when your house crashes onto your nazicar, it really isn't Elon's fault!

@arstechnica need to arrest more climate activists obviously, maybe bomb and fly more military planes too

@itsfoss wow they don't even look like a bin anymore!

@purrperl@noc.social @channelOwen@fosstodon.org @chrastecky@phpc.social aww shame! I was really picturing you trying to decline a call with "I'm on the bus call you later" :D BT keyboard under your arm always paired for those really urgent calls you can't afford to miss!

@purrperl@noc.social @chrastecky@phpc.social @channelOwen@fosstodon.org mate if you're going to pull out your keyboard and Emacs each time you need to make a phone call, that's quite next level, but go for it I say! :)

@purrperl@noc.social @channelOwen@fosstodon.org @chrastecky@phpc.social last time I used Sailfish it was just a custom GNU distro, so Linux, gcc, bluez... Going by memory

@chrastecky@phpc.social @purrperl@noc.social @channelOwen@fosstodon.org like, Linux kernel, X11 or maybe Weston these days, a custom DE designed for touch screens, your usual directory structure and there you go, non-desktop gnu for your phone. Really it's the DE that makes all the difference. The rest is drivers (that may dictate the kernel's version) and specific kernel build settings

@puujalkavihrea friendly reminder that you're going to breathe all that destroyed oil plus the chemicals from the not-so-green missiles

@puujalkavihrea precisely my point. Burning it all in a single day without any kind of filtering isn't going to get our air any cleaner than if it was used for cars and factories

@newsgroup something is wrong here... They attacked him, he was just talking. What de-escalation? I don't think de-escalation means what they think it means. Which explains a lot about the situation in Iran too

@infosec812@foojay.social @bagder@mastodon.social bullshit argument. No one excels at everything and attacking or hating him for his weak points while overlooking his contributions to society is horrible behaviour. Without him, the world would probably be a very different place today

@infosec812@foojay.social @bagder@mastodon.social having poor social skills is not inexcusable behaviour, in spite of what the pitchfork wielding crowd would have you believe. In fact I'm still waiting for the world to become a better place after his removal and I only see everything going downhill harder than before

@thanius@mastodon.chuggybumba.com @bagder@mastodon.social just guessing but it might be to hit certain corner cases. For example you might want a file with a certain type of noise to test that your changes to the algorithm didn't cause it to spit out a packed file that's significantly bigger than the incompressible source. Or something that was known to cause crashes or lossy behaviour in previous versions to prevent regressions

@thanius@mastodon.chuggybumba.com I get that and you can probably do what you say to generate certain sequences including noise even though it might be non-trivial, but if there is a certain binary sequence that was once a chunk of a file that someone attached to a bug report, you can't reasonably generate that. It doesn't have to be megs either, so why look for a function that generates 10 specific bytes when you can just commit those 10 bytes?

@bagder@mastodon.social I was positively surprised me too! Very well made, I loved how they tossed on the table that Israel is one of the possible suspects

@fandompost@mastodon.social is it a remake or a sequel??

@XLCChelt@mastodonapp.uk you might have missed the big launch event by now mate, by approximately 31 years xD

@mlen@social.hackerspace.pl @bagder@mastodon.social they do say the name is fake and there was probably a full paid team behind it

@xgranade@wandering.shop isn't istagram the website where girls upload their softcore sexy pics to? What's that to do with creators of cool stuff? Are you talking about the sexy cosplayer kind of creators?

@xgranade@wandering.shop uhm you lost me... What sex workers? What sex negativity?
