Apple motion sickness dots are a revolution in technology
Getting my pre dinner dinner because the caterers chosen for this week long event haven’t sorted out anyone’s dietary requirements. This is terrible. At least there’s fast food nearby that can cater (and we’re encouraged to expense it)
This time next week I’ll be settling in to sleep at the airport ahead of going away for a week for work. I’m both excited and apprehensive. I need to start packing and doing 500 other things.
Oops. I let my bus driver take my ticket. Guess I’m not gonna get the $8 airport transfer reimbursed by work . I always forget to take photos of these things early smh.

Successfully topped a whole bunch of invasive trees that were shadowing the natives and stunting their growth 🎉
Plumbers found things you’d rather not find but have fixed a bunch of stuff 🎉 (they’re still going and had to reverse down our steep ass driveway to let the gardeners out whoops)

I will not watch while the teenager wrangles the truck and trailer, but I will flinch when I hear the grass getting absolutely demolished 😅

We’ve now met a bunch of scent work people from our local kennel club and omg they’re so nice and no one is being weird about our masks inside and Gus is having a blast!
I’m expecting him to flop under his first trial this weekend, but it’s about learning to work in a new environment so that’s fine.

DogsNZ is the more strict one that I know more people in, and I know they have bergamot and clary sage at the next tiers but I dunno what SSANZ has. I thiiiink there’s some overlap at the higher levels…

I feel a little bad cuz I didn’t take Gus for a walk today and I meant to BUT we are taking him to his first ever tracking group practice so I’m hoping that makes up for it.
Once he gets a hang of the concept I think he will thoroughly enjoy it as an activity

I also grabbed a couple little things to start the spring garden, including some seedling mix cuz I feel behind on getting my seeds started 😬😬😬
I have some new varieties of sweet peas to grow this year, although two ambitious plants appear to have self seeded amongst the weeds

Most nights I wake up and roll over at least 5 times. Usually closer to 10.
Last night I only did it once? I feel so rested? I dunno what is different other than Gus was exhausted after doing lots of scent work and hanging with friends for most of the day yesterday…

I am instead using this week to rebuild the home automation from the ground up.
We lifted and shifted the apartment set up a year ago and so it had a lot of cruft and missing bits we hadn’t plugged in and obsolete rules. So I’m starting from scratch and migrating things over.
It’s both rewarding and tedious work.

Annnnd a permanent lavender and rosemary to add in to a bed that turns out NEEDS more than just summer perennials or the soil gets washed out every heavy rain 😅 whoops. Throwing them in cuz they’re low maintenance but nice.

The corded one was a great help but omg it’s SO HARD to use on the tiny box hedges at our place. Esp after seeing dads cordless one go. I am deeply looking forward to cleaning things up again.

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange my family dog (papillon) went blind in his later years, but he was so passive and chill that if he got “lost” in the house (aka ended up behind a door instead of going through it), he’d just quietly wait to be saved. Never made a peep. We’d notice he was missing and have to go looking.

Very cold but also low tide so we went for a nice long walk
There are two dog scent sports organizations in nz, with slightly different regulations, target odours and ways of running trials.
We went to our first SSANZ trial yesterday and Gus had a flawless run. Found all four hides (vehicle, exterior, interior and containers) in under 1 minute. No faults, the only “issue” was that I didn’t believe him at first because he found the vehicle hide so quickly, that I made him do a full loop of the car to confirm he wasn’t fibbing.
I am so pleased
I got a deep tissue massage to try deal with my shoulders (never a good sign when they touch you, hiss(!!) then say “wow your rhomboids are TIGHT”).
I am so sore and this will help and I’m also gonna restart my physio stretches that I’ve been ignoring for the last year since moving but oooof I feel like I got beaten up in very targeted places ow
One major problem with rural living is that I want cake and that means I have to bake a cake?? So rude
