@mttaggart Trust me, I'd love to, but my company is embedded balls deep into Microslop's ecosystem that it won't get out until it's far too late. Worst of all, they force me to daily drive Windows 11 as a Linux engineer! I basically spend all of my time in WSL, interacting with Windows only when strictly necessary ahah

@amackif @EUCommission That would mean a lot. PostmarketOS (and all the OSes that depend on their kernel groundwork) definitely need those device trees, driver source code, documentation, etc. so we can finally get out of the Android monopoly. Also, I would love to see a proper ban on proprietary firmware. I know that's wishful thinking, but it's by far the biggest pain point for oh so many devices. The rest can at least be engineered from the documentation, or reversed with enough effort.

@nixCraft I had concerns about last month's survey because of the jump in languages and hardware usage. But this time it feels realistic (accounting from last month's correction of course), so I guess those numbers are real, which is really crazy!

@nixCraft@mastodon.social I'd get Perl out of the mix. Has grown out to be a terrible language with tons of feature creep, is very difficult to maintain, and very few things actually rely on it, so the community around it is small. For new projects, anything you'd do in Perl can be done in shell or Python for a fraction of the cost in time and sanity.
