@troed honestly, I found the process relatively easy and straightforward. I can help you if you have any specific issues. The signing thing is pretty much 4-5 commands you type once + a PR and you're good to go.

@artfulrobot it just offers more flexibility in terms of being able to customize and do more advanced formatting, but I totally get what you're saying. It's something I debated with myself for a while. That said the friction shouldn't be too hard because there is a toolbar with all the available options as buttons so the users barely ever have to type it themselves.
I'm still open to supporting Markdown! Though it would require some consideration into how it would be done for backwards compat
