this is a legacy account that will be deleted near the end of 2025!
As of about an hour ago I’m totally signed out of Glitch/Fastly everything. It was a wild 4 years and I’m glad I got to do it, even if it obviously did not end the way I would have wanted! Hoping for a smooth shutdown next week, but it’s in good hands with the final crew.
I woke up last night and wrote a note to myself that I wanted to make my website look “like a W2” and I’m still trying to decide if that was a good idea or not
not intentionally, we ended up with a weekend at the coast just after the glitch announcement went out. It’s been nice. I’m rereading Bryan Lee O’Malley’s _Seconds_ and listening to some music, we’re walking a mile down the beach to get to every meal, and we have our dog Hopper with us while traveling for once.
Looks like tomorrow morning I’ll be launching my last (the last?) user-facing feature on Glitch. It’s been a good run!
it is really cool to see this in the Vampire Survivors changelog!
I understand why “magic links” exist but when it is the only option they make me go through a slower process, they create debris in my email account, I have to juggle multiple apps & tabs, and in return I am somehow usually dropped on the home page of the site instead of what I was trying to read
Been writing a bunch of things the past week or so for an activity I'm organizing with friends and today was the day where I went from "oh wow this is fun! I should write things all the time" to "oh god this will never be finished, why did I do this". It's all part of the process!
👋 my instance was down for almost a week with little communication from its host. I'm looking for more information but I may or may not need to do a migration in the near future. Fun times!
the biggest technical question I have right now is: will Jon Bois’ forthcoming 17776-inspired novel be written in a semi-conversational/epistolary format like its predecessor, but without the sort of format-breaking hypertext-curious style that elevated it?
Let me not think of my work only as a stepping stone to something else, and if it is, let me become fascinated by the shape of the stone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZ3orv6yAE4
the final boss of my Glitch migration appears to be combining SSL + two layers of proxying 😖
finally got around to reading https://blog.pragmaticengineer.com/stack-overflow-is-almost-dead/ and I was surprised that the word “Discord” did not appear until the final sentence of the post
