October 24nd, 2025: The B.A.T.M.A.N. team is excited to announce the release of the October 2025 update for batman-adv! The network coding support was dropped due to its limited usefulness in todays Wi-Fi landscape and the neglected development in the related code portions. This release also includes various bug fixes and code cleanups.
Last year, @T_X@chaos.social gave a nice batman-adv overview talk (in German) as part of the @nook@social.chaotikum.org in Lübeck. It focuses not only on the technical part, but also on the history and the interaction with the #freifunk community. batman-adv 2025.0 released
Today the B.A.T.M.A.N. team published the February 2025 update to batman-adv! batctl got support for subsecond ping intervals. To reduce the size of OGMs, VLAN 0 is now handled as "untagged VLAN" and announced TT changes have less redundant modifications listed. batman-adv's OGM translation table changes parser also received an important fix for a regression from 2024.4.
