In fairness to the poster, it is super confusing that there are two of us. Rest assured that despite my remit being Scottish astronomy, I have been and will continue to advocate very hard for astronomy and all astronomers (academic and "amateur") across the whole of the UK.

Yesterday, 56 of our fab colleagues at the Physics & Astronomy dept in Nottingham, received “at risk of redundancy” letters. The Uni is planning to reduce the size of the Physics dept by almost a third.🧪⚛️🔭

It's a day of fab asteroid news! 🤩 Image drop from yesterday's Japanese Space Agency JAXA high-speed close flyby of asteroid #Torifune (~450m across). This is the extension mission of #Hayabusa2, after its successful 2020 asteroid-sample collection from Ryugu. Next stop: another asteroid in 2031 🤩🔭🧪

I'm absolutely devastated for colleagues at Jodrell Bank who found out this morning that funding for the UK's e-MERLIN radio telescope array will be terminated. This is a short-sighted move, to save a tiny fraction of the overall UK science budget. #SaveJodrellBank 🔭🧪

Just off #BBCR4 World at One, arguing the importance of discovery science (like Jodrell) for long-term economic growth. I said I was heartbroken at the news: evidence just look at how exceptionally excited me & @mamaphysikerin.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy were when we got to stand inside Lovell back in 2017 🥰 🔭🧪

NASA picture of the day today is a real 🏴beauty! This is a composite image of the ~5000yo Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. The amazing Giuseppe Petricca has only gone and photographed the Sun at noon there, every few days, for a whole year. #Dedication 🔭🧪👌
