Given the number of bots scraping things that shouldn't be, I propose we create a status code 469: Go Fuck Yourself.

I do custom laser cutting work via DFD, but shipping outside US is $$. 😕

I really dislike Git throwing up its hands when doing a merge if when local edited line 11 and remote comes down with an edit to line 12. Neither side conflicted with each other but yet it tells me to fix it myself. All these years, a new merge algorithm, and this is still a problem. 😑
My pastebin I created for myself and an IRC channel is getting inundated with hits from meta-externalagent, which is apparently their AI-training crawler.
Requests may be as spaced out as every 4 seconds, but generally much more frequent.
Visiting the site creates a new paste automatically, and those pages have links to fork or view the paste raw, so it's just cycling and filling up my database as it tries to crawl an endless wasteland of empty pastes.
It's ignoring the robots.txt, obviously.
The really weird thing about Facebook's AI training crawler ignoring robots.txt is their link preview process (with a different user-agent) respects the robots.txt so hard that even when I exempt it, it still thinks it's forbidden. 🙄
I just `iptables -A INPUT -s ... -j DROP`ed the bomb on them. 🕺
Cash back, but the amount earned is only enough to on average earn back the service fee for opting into cash back. 😄
@Purple@woof.tech Sorry if I came across as a bit snippy before, condensing my thoughts into a single reply.
OS X, as I have no experience with macOS (yet), did try to keep histories per tab. I didn't seem to work right, but I'm guessing because it also never restored my tabs just a single so I always got the combined history.
Here, with Terminal, it can the order of tabs and their names within a window, so I'd think they could assign an internal ID allowing them to restore that, the CWD, and its own history.
If I have more than one window, well, I have no idea how that'd work.
Launching a new window would get the combined history since what else would it have?
At any rate, even if they don't do any of that because of the aforementioned issue, what I don't understand is why hitting up sometimes doesn't return the expected command (typically the last one I ran).
It sometimes does the equivalent of this:
-> up
npm run build -> enter -> up ./myscript blah
When the reality is that the invocation of myscript wasn't even the command before the build call, it was far back in history.
It's like Terminal lost its place in history and ended up somewhere arbitrary. Or, someone realized the commingling might be odd, and it snapped to the place in history this tab would've been. I don't know.
I should note this is just my experience with the PowerShell tabs. I don't know if it affects non-PS tabs.
Either way, it's annoying when it happens and I don't notice.
Bravo. My health insurance site is having issues but requires me give them a 2FA code. Their codes are only good for 5 minutes, but they're currently arriving after the expiration.
nginx frustrates me sometimes.
I previously defined some error_page directives in my defaults for 502 and 504 to show a fancy page when my apps were down (maintenance or bug), and it worked.
But recently I noticed they no longer do, and the internet's solution of enabling proxy_intercept_errors captures _all_ errors, not just ones I wish.
I solved it by copying down the default blocks into the location blocks for each app, but I shouldn't have to.
Also, nginx's docs need a search box.

Could be a text chat funny: spoiler marked NSFW, but it's just a link to the C++ spec.
Ooo, turns out can be triggered without JavaScript, the only problem is even if I set it to border: none; (or zero) it still seems to render with a 1px black top border, at least in Firefox. It's not an outline or a box-shadow, either.
I can make it disappear by setting the borders to be 1px and white, but it'd be nice if it just did what I asked.
I also noticed close buttons don't work unless set to type="button" when inside of a form in the dialog. Not a really a bug, though.
