@Lana@beige.party Back in the 2001s, I would get "randomly selected" for security scrutiny on every flight on every trip to USAia. At the time I was doing some work in probability theory. When I told my professor about it, he noted that possibly the probability distribution was not uniform.

@marnanel It is, however, shocking that Bedford council's social media presence is not aware the Ramadan is set by one of several sighting committees, rather than directly by the creation of the moon. My knowledge of current Islamic theology is insufficient to suggest which sighting committee holds for which communities. It is however probably safe to assume that Bedford Borough Council does not hold authority over the Saudi Arabia sighting committee, which is often recognized and almost always considered.

@jasongorman To be fair, at least stage 1 doesn't sand the problem too much. Either that, or a "T" is missing. I will also need training in what dotted lines with two arrowheads mean - I read the legend 3 times and still cannot understand the diagram. Which raises the question: does this diagram _really_ help anyone understand (or even undersand)? (Not attributing the diagram to you, please do not worry!)

#github was down, you say?
1. Firstly, only #pull_request-s were actually down. Who uses those on a platform designed for managing pull requests on top of #git?
2. Even those were actually _working_. It was only _searching_ for a pull request that didn't work. You could still interact with pull requests if you had taken the trouble to memorize their number.
3. Search wasn't _completely_ down. It only didn't return _all_ results. So technically #search was working. The only thing degraded was #find.
4. And in any case, #githubstatus for #PRs remained UP! Even with >1 screen of ongoing status for a 48-hour incident, actual status of GitHub Pull Requests was UP (apart from 1h27m on the day prior to that incident). No degraded performance on the charts, nothing.

אני מכין כופתאות (קניידלך בעברית). תחילה הן דבוקות לתחתית הסיר, ואז מתנתקות וצפות. אבל *כעת* מתרחש פלא: בכל כמה דקות הן מתהפכות! פעם אחת הייתי מבין - התבשל יותר למטה, הביצה גרמה להתרחבות ולירידה בצפיפות, והכופתאה התהפכה. אבל זה קורה שוב, לאותה כופתאה.

What makes X good is not its body count or the number of people who would die to defend it. (Needless to say, the people who defend X by sending bodies to die for it mean the bodies of _other_ people.)
