Berlin: A cat showing me the way when I was lost (as usual), Klara Liden video destroying computers on loop, Community Datacenters at @Weizenbaum_Institut@social.bund.de + @bits_und_baeume@mastodon.bits-und-baeume.org, and a peculiar "Server" door

mastodon 4.6.8+glitchI am an artist, curator, etcher, (decelerationist) system administrator, and independent researcher. I am a contributor to journals, FLOSS (Free/Libre Open Source Software), printmaking workshops, and community-oriented initiatives and infrastructures, and exhibits my works locally and globally. I co-organise the artist-run platform cooperative called @ursuppe@tldr.nettime.org as well as a bunch of other platforms.
I will soon be binding and publishing booklets again in https://scrollscrollscroll.org/. Read more below if you have stashed away material you are interested in publishing.
The first few booklets are in the pipeline, but there is also an open call:
open call
scroll is looking for stashed away works that did not fit anywhere else but should still find readers in our worlds.
the works can be in any format and medium, ranging from one to fifty pages: Technical manuals, code or descriptions of forgotten software, a series of photos from a vacation in which you were more occupied with documenting the accelerating tourism than your family, a letter that was never sent to the recipient, an article that ended up fitting more into the arts and humanities than natural sciences or the other way around, a score with accompanied digital files or physical representation, or a story you wrote ten years ago that you are still not quite sure about.
scroll offers the option to publish the works anonymously or under a pseudonym. In this initial call, we do not have the resources to compensate you monetarily, but we do offer editing, formatting, printing, binding and distribution. The format and distribution in scroll can generate many questions. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions before sending your work over. Your proposal, or question, should be send to the following email:
scroll@kollektiv.email
In the spirit of learning in the open I wrote this workshop format last week:
https://etherealplane.communal.computer/
Will keep working on it and test run it in a month. Feel free to contribute.

"ethereal plane is both a guide into digital communication networks and a server in itself, although not that ethereal at all: It is a salvaged computer that is here right in front of you. It is called a server because it is computer running services that can be accessed through a network.
Today we will travel inside it together. We will share one memory, build something that lives in it, in what we usually categorise as the internet, and then reach past it with alternative communication networks.
This is a practical guide, and a bit demanding, in the way that it challenges the notion of technical vs. non-technical people. It is written for any user, that can get the assistance of a facilitator with some UNIX/Linux system administration experience to solve out the threads that will be entangled in the process. As a user, the most important is to collect the courage needed to type what you see, and reflect about the politics and poetics of digital communication networks while sensing its materialities through remote login (ssh/soul journey) and sharing a terminal (tmux/soul merging).
The aims of ethereal plane is to expose the aesthetic, poetic and playful dimensions of digital communication networks beyond capitalist and exctractivist modes, based on free/libre and open technologies, and using them for something directed towards the cause of civil society such as self- and community-hosting, and alternative anti-authoritarian communication networks."
/ might be unavailable due to running on a small server in my studio right now. In that case this is the git repository: https://codeberg.org/andersaardvark/ethereal-plane/
