I’ve been taking my three year old to swimming classes. Now to understand what this means for me as a trans woman you need two pieces of information.
1. I have to be in the pool with my kid, as essentially her floating aid, and
2. Swedish public bath culture expressly requires binary gender separated naked showering. In open, uncovered showers.
Americans and your bathrooms eat your hearts out.

One of the things I really miss after children is the ability to take vacation from work to work on a project that needs doing, at home or in the world generally.
I used to take vacation from my boring research to do Polonius, the fun research. I can’t do things like that now because if I’m on vacation we don’t have childcare. This would have sucked a lot more if I didn’t get to do the fun research for work, but I still have other things and it does suck.
