Wrote an article on a generic pattern to catch concurrency bugs with unit testing. Hope you find it as useful as I have!

Cooking up the next article on Medium on stress testing concurrency with unit testing.

Calling this one the "Cattle-Herding Pattern" to describe the mechanism behind it.

Also here's a photo of my abuelita's cows for the cute cow tax

Hey Chicago! We have CFPs open for the year for Kotlin User Group and the general tech community. We will be hosting a combination of traditional meetup setups and more casual settings as well, intended to foster learning and community.

Please note that we do not accept talks on AI, as there are plenty of other groups that focus on that.

New speakers are especially welcome to apply!

2026 Chicago Tech Learning Community Open CPF

Looking to practice JVM-related talks for a conference or for an internal presentation? Discovered something *really* cool and wish to share it with the tech community in Chicago? Tried out a new library and wanted to share how it went? Please note we DO NOT accept talks about AI. There are plenty of other organizations that focus on that. The Chicago Tech Learning Community is looking for speakers for the 2026 year! We provide a warm and inclusive community and we wish to provide a low-p

Legitimate question for open-source developers: how often do you credit open source contributions to AI?

Nuked my flashdrive so I ordered a $32 128G SDD from Ebay to create several partitions for different labs on my little pi. Hopefully this one doesn't get a heart attack so easily

The idea of "scaling horizontally" is a Western ideology - that there is unlimited resource fungibility in computing. This ignores the basic laws of nature: that there are finite resources to extract. We're seeing it play out in real time with American communities pushing back against data centers.
