I like LLMs and also the research but I think we’re at a point where one could make a pause, turn the models into silicone and sell them as hardware for people who are actually interested. That would solve all privacy problems, eliminate many data centers, subscription fees, internet dependencies and allow for slower and more thoughtful upgrades (hardware isn’t updated as often as software). That would be a pretty sovereign solution. However, from a company perspective they can’t force it on everyone anymore, don’t get all the juicy data from all the users and can’t sell subscriptions any more and change everything on their side.

52k modems where cool but fax machines… fuck fax machines. If you ever dialed one by accident you know what I mean.

Sounds nice. Enjoy your sleep

I obviously meant the sleep, not the disability

I mean this: en.wikipedia.org/…/Application-specific_integrate… There are companies working in this direction already. And regarding model size the Chinese models aren’t as large as the American ones. Not on the same level but still usablzand if I had one in a little box in my office I could run it 24/7 with lightning speed which would probably make up for the model performance difference. It’s already possible with GDX Spark and similar hardware but it’s relatively slow, can’t run the full size models and pretty expensive.

I’ve had that but the cat started following me home, even though I tried to stop it. At home we already had two cats so they fought off the intruder immediately. Felt bad for the friendly cat.

That is correct. Very comforting

Fixed it. We don’t use this silly silicon word here. I picked the wrong one. We call it Silicium Sodium is Natrium, Potassium is Kalium, Aluminum is Aluminum etc.

Thanks a lot for this. Heel goed!

Thank you, dein Deutsch auch :) Böhmermann is a bit special. He does music (www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNjG22Gbo6U) and often starts elaborate undercover attacks (or pranks), exposes frauds and scandals and things like that. Not a typical late night show I’d say. He also got in trouble for his pretty vicious attacks on Erdogan. In general I like what he does but it’s quite intense! Thank you also for this link. I’m on vacation right now and didn’t watch too many German news lately. I was aware of the AfD win but I didn’t want to listen to any of their aggressive bullshit propaganda. Unfortunately a lot of people like them, even people I know (I live in NRW, right next to the Dutch border). It’s business people who don’t like taxes and bureaucracy, people scared of immigrants and poor uneducated people who think they’re not treated fairly by the government. It’s very hard to discuss with them. For some reason they always punch downward (immigrants or unemployed people) while they’re dissatisfied with the current government (which is in fact shit). It’s so clear that AfD won’t solve any of their problems. They are incompetent except for propaganda and their whole job, for which they get paid by billionaires, is to destabilize and weaken Europe and Germany.

It's different in Germany but also difficult. Choices like "less neoconservatism and more social responsibility but also ass kissing Russia and no support for Ukraine" or "more progressive country but also super capitalism", different flavors of neoconservatism that either fuck the people, the environment, or both, lying Nazis that want to have Germany exit the EU and stop non-existent white genocide and wokeness and lots of smaller parties that will very likely never get elected.

Hah, I licked them one or two posts ago.

Acceptance is important. Maybe a little more accepting others as well but it's going in the right direction

Hard to read, not enough contrast. Aber sonst ein schönes Heftchen.

I agree. However, to my defense it was a low effort summary at 6 in the morning before having all cup of coffee.

Swamps, cigars and drug smuggling.

What kind of assistance?

I worked for Canon Printing in R&D about a decade ago.

Looong ago I enjoyed watching "the spoony one" on YouTube

Sorry for the late reply. It was in the late 90s, so I guess it was 2nd edition. The "normal" combat rules where pretty clear to me but like I said, decking and rigging where a total mystery so we basically skipped that whole part and only had fighters and magic users. However, the rulebook suggested rigger and decker type player characters, including the different hardware and implants. Another thing I remember was that the initiative rules where kind of broken. Players a good reflex booster where extremely overpowered. For me as GM that became a huge realism problem because either enemies had to have reflex boosters as well or appear in huge numbers to stand a chance and to present a challenge. What I did to offset this is a bit was introducing reflex booster glitches and side effects like making the players extremely twitchy.

It's often the loser of a conflict that pays.

Thank you. I actually own a 8bitdo controller and had no idea they are Chinese. Never heard of fiio, thank you for the link.

Nothing, it's a South Park reference

It's a place in Germany actually

Thank you

I see. I believe that's a big problem since it's hard to avoid or "punish" them by boycott. They will just appear again under a different name.

You can contact me for Germany or Netherlands related infos if you like

I see. Thank you. A website is at least a little more effort than just printing a label on the product.

Step 1: Become a vampire Step 2: Drink blood Step 3: Be immor(t)al

Looks like an ad for itchy buttholes

The Elvira Amiga games where pretty good as well

The printer is for the sound, this is for smell

Ideally with should always be flexible. However if it’s not there should be a good reason for exceptions and having to care for a young child is often a good reason in my opinion. I believe people without children can have good reasons as well and some people with children need less flexibility. E.g. a single parent usually struggles more than one with a partner stays home to focus on the children or one who lives in the same house as the grandparents. If you’re speaking about vacations it’s usually due to fixed school vacations so if the person with a child wants to be able e.g. wants to travel with their family they have to do it during the official school vacations. At least here school is mandatory otherwise and not sending your child to school is a crime.

I miss my old 386 with DOS and Windows 3. No login, no subscriptions and collaboration only with actual physical friends coming over. New software from the computer market or pirated by sharing floppy discs on the schoolyard…

In Germany you don’t need a loan. Housing could be expensive if you study far from home but otherwise it’s very cheap.

I just looked the name up in Wikipedia and found a sculptor with that name. Wild story, talented artist though.

Epstein Elite has been owning the means of production for a while, they are afraid to change anything

Interesting, never heard of a lot in the top 10. Maybe not available here or renamed
