Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1060 , Tuesday 22/09/2026 Tuesday started just after 7am when I gave up trying to ignore the screaming kids next door. It’s been a busy little day, I cleaned the bathroom & mopped the floor in there, cleaned the extractor fan too - it gets a bi-annual seeing to to keep it running smoothly. Also cleaned the multi-sensor for the weather station, sadly the annual autumnal influx of spiders seems to have completely done for the temperature sensor so I have got a couple of Switchbot™ external temp / hygrometer meters instead. Not as good but far cheaper & they hook up to the phone so that should be helpful. I tried out one of the new mini work lights that I got in Costco™ when I was sorting the extractor fan out - they are fabulous - really effective! Final Thoughts. Not a bad day, the only downside was that I went a little wild with the sweet stuff that I got from Costco™ - I knew I would - I should have resisted buying them! Hey ho, will have to work extra hard in the gym! Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1052 , Monday 14/09/2026 Monday started early - as Mondays do. Down the gym, took it a bit easier today because I had a few worrying twinges in my chest over the weekend, I think I may have pushed the envelope a bit too far last week. Daily chores & breakfast when I got home. I decided to pull up my big boys trousers around 10ish & called TWAM’s head office - where a very nice lady gave me lots of excuses & gave me the contact numbers of their local collectors. While I was on a roll I called the first on the list who was not at home, but the 2nd attempt was far more successful & a meet was arranged for 11:30. Leapt semi athletically into the car & got may ass across to my late MiLs. Long story short tools are donated & another task is ticked off dealing with my MiL’s estate! Got home & after lunch I tackled cleaning the washing machine as we had enough sunshine to provide the power for the cleaning cycle. Finally relaxed around 2pm & hit the PS5. Quiche & salad for tea with the last of the strawberries with a dollop of ice cream! Final Thoughts. Not a bad day at all, I hate using the phone & it takes a lot to place a call. Also not overly happy with dealing with strangers. But needs must & I am really pleased that I faced the dial tone demons & that my FiL’s tools will now have a 2nd lease of life! Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1038 , Monday 31/08/2026 Monday, being a public holiday, started with a lie in until 07:30. Breakfast & a few basic chores got the day underway & then I had a couple of hours on the PS5 as Mrs S was doing some admin stuff. All was well until late morning when we had a power cut for an hour! We relaxed with a couple of Mrs S’s TV shows this afternoon & then finshed the day with a fried chicken takeaway & ‘Charlie Wilson’s War’ with Tom Hanks who is definitely one of my fave actors! Final Thoughts. Not a bad day at all, Northern Powergrid’s failure to provide power not withstanding! Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. A nice quiet day after the chores were completed. A good thing really as my body was whining about all the bending & stretching that happened on Monday! Final Thoughts. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1003 , Monday 27/07/2026 Monday started early, it being a gym day. Why are Mondays always a struggle! (Prolly all the naught food I have over the weekend & the fact that I still don’t have a set exercise regimen at home - but don’t tell anyone else that!). After breakfast & a few chores Mrs S & I went across to my late MiL’s house - Mrs S to sort thru some bowls & crockery in the kitchen & me to tackle my late FiL’s garage. So many tools! I have made a start, but it will take at least 2 more trips to finish the job I think! We stopped off at Sainsgogs for a late lunch - their meal deal was just what we needed, quick but filling. Then home. Relaxed this afternoon finishing the latest series of ‘For all Mankind’. I do like that show. Salad & roast chicken breasts for tea with strawberries & ice cream for pud while we continued our journey thru the original series of ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ they really do not make TV like that any more (the new version is good but not as good as the original with Christopher Timothy! ) Final Thoughts. A busy day & looking at the garage it does not look like I have made too much progress, but progress has been made! Somehow I have to find some room for the tools I plan to keep! Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 993 , Friday 17/07/2026 Friday started bright & early & I managed to get my squirrelly ass down to the gym. Tried the new treadmill - not a fan, (which it lacks, a sad oversight given the current temperatures!). It’s been a productive day in small ways. The coffee machine has been cleaned & descaled, the dishwasher has had a cleaning cycle & a variety of other minor tasks. I got some new shoes for round the house yesterday & they are wonderfully light & comfortable! Pizza for tea with cider to wash it down while we continued with our Babylon 5 fest - currently in the first quarter of series 2. Final Thoughts. It has been another pleasant summer day here in deepest, darkest Yorkshire & while I have not achieved anything significant progress has been made! Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1005 , Wednesday 29/07/2026 Up early to go to the gym, not a bad session although my knee complained about the leg press! Got back did a couple of chores then had breakfast. Had to go for a blood test &, as is the case these days, the phlebotomist had problems fining a willing vein! Mrs S has been pestering me to do the front hedge so I tackled that this morning & then, in a fit of ADHD enthusiasm topped the hawthorn tree. I only had hedge trimmers & a set of long handled loppers to tackle the job & the hawthorn was not for giving in easily as the many scratches on my arms attest! My entire body now hates me, but at least the job is done! I was treated to a chinese takeaway this evening for my efforts so that was nice! It went well with an episode of Cadfael! Final Thoughts. A much, much busier day than I at first envisioned but the front garden looks better, although I need to get out there & tackle the runaway wild strawberries next! Thursday started a little later at around 07:15.

Another pleasantly warm day here in deepest, darkest Yorkshire & another quiet relaxing day.

The ‘high point’ was putting up 2 corkboards for Mrs S after she pestered me into it. Didn’t help with any of the chores mind.

Back to the gym bright and early tomorrow morning … joy!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 985 , Thursday 09/07/2026 Thursday started early because my brain hates me! Did some prep work for the shelf that is going over the window in my room at some point soon, but lack of parts (6 x 1½ screws to be precise) stopped play so I have ordered some & play will resume when they arrive. My ADHD side was dominant today so I flitted between minor tasks for much of the day but managed to get some time on the PS5 too. Nuked lasagne for tea - Mrs S wanted it so who am I to argue! Arranged to go out for lunch with my Dad later this month for his birthday. Final Thoughts. Hot as heck today i’m gradually melting away! Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 978 , Thursday 02/07/2026 Heck I completely missed that we have moved into July! Not that my brain is terminally fried or anything! Up at 06:30 & then a day filled with chores, meal prep & Starfield. I did also fit a hydraulic door closer to the bathroom door. We have had a spring loaded one on for ages to stop the moggy varmints getting in (because me n Mrs S had a habit of leaving the door open) & drinking out of the shower basin … not the healthiest water in the world! The problem was that with the windows open the door slams shut & it was damaging the frame & the plaster around the frame. So I managed to get a ‘small’ hydraulic closer & fitted it today. It is much more noticeable than its predecessor but even with the windows open blowing today the door now closes smoothly & quietly! One of Mrs S’s gunky microwave meals for tea because I could not be arsed to do anything more challenging & we had run out of salad. Final Thoughts. Quite pleased with the new door closer - it’s weird how ones definition of success changes when there is so little to succeed at. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 996 , Monday 20/07/2026 Monday & I reluctantly got my ass down to the gym. Not a bad gym session, I am slowly settling into the current difficulty level on the bike, I am happy with my walk rate on the treadmill, I need a couple more weeks at 5.8 km/h before I take it up to 5.9 - I don’t want to stress my heart too much. I’m firmly stable with the weights, my right arm was hurting after previous sessions but that is now passing as I get stronger. A relaxed rest of the day after doing my chores. Chicken skewers & salad for tea, with, yes you guessed it, strawberries & ice-cream for dessert. Final Thoughts. Not a bad day at all. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 989 , Monday 13/07/2026 Up at crack of sparrows fart for the gym this morning, despite yesterday’s looooonnnnnnggggg day! Yesterday started out at around 07:30 & after breakfast I cracked on with fitting the shelf over the window (which is actually comprised of 2 shelves that used to be in Mrs S’s study before the epic decorating episode.) sadly the wall is not plum or square or even flat so it Was not as easy as it should have been. Then came the fun bit - fitting the ‘easy fit’ roman blind from Dunelm Mills. The major problem ultimately being that it didn’t hang evenly because one of the cords was tied to the wrong length - I got VERY frustrated with it & I regret to report that I had a total meltdown over it. Anyways that was all fitted by teatime. After a quick break for something to eat I then had to put my room back together … why does tidying up ALWAYS take at least twice as long as the original job! By the time I had done all that, installed the new dual monitor arms & the new bluetooth shelf speakers I treated myself to the other week it was gone 10pm. So by the time I came to write the diary I was exhausted, brain dead & still not a little peeved with the blind nd the world in general. The blind does look the business though, it’s a proper blackout blind & for the first time since moving into that room as my bedroom I slept thru a summers dawn! Sadly I didn’t get too much sleep as my body hated me for all the abuse I had given it! Today has been another busy day. Once I got back from the gym & had had my breakfast we went over to my late MiL’s to clear out the 2 sheds in the garden. This was very messy as the roof had leaked & the mice had moved in. We did find a couple of things that were worth keeping but not much. We also met with a rep from the ‘Clean and Clear’ company that has been hired to spruce the place up. The meeting went well & we await dates & a formal quote in the coming days. Stopped off for lunch (gammon, egg n chips for me) on the way home then a very alzy afternoon watching ‘The Aviator’ from a few years back, & interesting film but one that I would probably not watch again - for one thing at nearly 3 hours long it did drag on a bit! A light salad for tea with strawberries & ice cream for dessert. Final Thoughts. Yesterday left me frazzled & between my efforts then & todays work my spine is in open revolt! But on the other hand I do feel like I have achieved a lot & will go to bed a lot happier than I did last night! Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 990 , Tuesday 14/07/2026

Up at just after 06:30 but that was ok because I fell asleep before 10pm last night so a more or less solid 8 hours.

Mrs S was in the office to a nice quiet day once I had done my chores!
I officially finished NMS exp 22 & got all the goodies I wanted to take back to my main save - & a trendy new multi-tool to boot!

Chicken kievs & salad for tea with strawberries for dessert - yum!

Final Thoughts.

A much needed quiet day to start to de-stress & relax, there will be a repeat performance tomorrow!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 975 , Monday 29/06/2026 Monday started at around 6am as it is a gym day. Not a bad gym session, pushed past the 5.7km/h barrier I’ve been struggling with on the treadmill so that was encouraging. Did a little gardening after breakfast & chores then some exploring in Starfield. We had a Costco™ trip late this afternoon … heck stuff is so expensive now. Had a naughty takeaway for tea, we were originally going to have tea at Costco™ but it was literally standing room only in the cafe & neither of us fancied that! Final Thoughts. Not a bad day, although I had a dizzy turn in Costco™, I think these are caused by a mixture of me being really tired & the lighting in there! Well today has sped by, I’m not entirely sure where!

Finally got around to watching the celebration of Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday … I feel that he is one of defining people in my life (as he is in so many others!). The world is, as others have said, a far better place with him in it!

The week is getting away from me, for some reason I thought it was Monday today!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 977 , Wednesday 01/07/2026 Wednesday started early, as gym days do. Not a bad gym session, up to 130lbs(?) on the leg press, I started on 90 so happy with that progress! Got home & after doing the main chores settled down for some breakfast. Sophie mog has discovered that if she waits for the sound of me finishing my coffee then there is a high chance of a brush. That cat is utterly brush addicted! We had at least 3 brush sessions a day! Spent the afternoon exploring in Starfield. The Bethesda devs have outdone themselves with curiosities to discover! Chicken kievs & salad for tea with strawgogs & ice cream for pudding! Finished the day by watching Springwatch (I know!) & starting to re-organise the contents of the old unit in the lounge that was replaced with the set of bookshelves from me late MiL’s house. Some canny redistribution of assets & even some binning off of stuff ensued! More to do but I am happy with the start I made! Final Thoughts. It’s not been a bad day - I even managed to plant out the dragon tree stems - hopefully they will take & we will have 3 for the price of 1! It’s been a mostly quiet day, a few chores & then an afternoon spent catching up on some of Mrs S’s shows. Huntsman pie and salad for tea, with our favourite strawgogs & ice cream for dessert! Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 982 , Monday 06/07/2026 Monday is a gym day so up early, down the gym by 7am & then stumble home 45 minutes later telling myself that it’s all in a good cause! I seem to have done something to my knee, my left kneecap keeps complaining when I come downstairs! Hopefully a day of rest will get it back into working order! Not much else to report for today. It’s been a somewhat overcast day but quite warm so not too bad - looks like we are in for a hot few days again later this week & for the foreseeable future (temps in the high 20s (C). Final Thoughts. Gonna put Kubuntu back on the MBP since windoze failed miserably. Starfield is scratching my spacefaring itch nicely so the need for a working version of Elite has faded. The need for a working laptop though is more pressing. I also need to get the shelf & the blind sorted in my room some time soon! Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 926 , Monday 11/05/2026

Up at crack of sparrows fart to go to the gym.

I discovered a key safety tip today, using one of the weight machines, that has different handles that attach via a carabiner clip, one of the ones that is just spring loaded not the ones that you have to unscrew.
I wear a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms- which fasten with a string - to the gym & normally have the t-shirt hanging over the tracksuit bottoms but today I tucked them in.
Style gurus will be frowning at this point but worse, I caught the carabiner clip in the loop of the bow knot on my trousers & it was a very tricky exercise to free myself without losing my pants or more to the point getting a ‘wedgie’!

Tip for the top, always wear ones t-shirt over ones trousers in the gym!

Thankfully the rest of my day was much less eventful, breakfast then chores followed by a romp around the Milky Way … I may get the Krait Phantom before I continue my journey into the ‘Black’.

Final Thoughts.

Watching ‘Have I got News for You’ & them showing the footage of fartage talking about detention centres & no-one batted an eye-lid. This country is slipping down the same slope that the US did.

Although the UK H&S elves are a force to be reckoned with so these centres will have to be up to ‘code’ as the Americans say!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1011 , Tuesday 04/08/2026 Up at around 7am because I could not sleep thru the noise from next door. Chores & breakfast were followed by a very unproductive day, could not get my brain into gear at all! Mrs S wanted to go to Costco™ this afternoon so off we went. The cunning plan was to have an early tea at their ultra cheap cafe & then hit the shop proper. Sadly the first part of the plan went slightly awry! The first issue is that Costco™, in their wisdom, have take all but 3 of the tables with seats out & replaced them with standing tables. I HATE eating at standing tables but luckily we managed to snag one of the 3 with seats. These are the 2 x 2 seater benches with the table in between type. I had just settled in to wait while Mrs S ordered our tea when some strange woman just sat down opposite me - no please / thank you / do you mind, she just brazenly nicked Mrs S’s seat - I protested about this so she moved down the bench saying something about sharing. Now I have a thing about personal space & a bigger thing about people with no manners! But what could I do - I could not in all conscience tell her to leave because there were, undeniably 2 empty seats at the table. It completely spoilt my tea though. I think that we will pay extra net time & go to an eatery where there are enough tables for all the diners! Then having to traipse around the store & endure all the people almost finished me off. Final Thoughts. The trip to Costco™ really frazzled me, at this point I am not sure if I’ll be going to the gym in the morning, I’m not sure I can cope with being in close proximity to people. That sounds wimpish & weak & hopefully after a nights sleep I will feel differently. Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 928 , Wednesday 13/05/2026

Up early & down the gym this morning, managed to get my regular routine in thankfully!

Breakfast then chores were followed by a romp around the Milky Way.

I put in an hour in the box room - doing some sanding. It has been on hold awaiting the decorator, but he is still talking about June so I’m toying with the idea of just doing it myself - despite the fact that I am very bad at paintwork & not much better at hanging wallpaper.
But Mrs S is pestering to have her study back & I can see her point!
Time will tell.

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day, managed to do more than I planned & it is nice to start feeling motivated again. Although more targeted motivation is required, there are a load of minor jobs that
need doing!

Struggling to people at the moment, making a serious effort to maintain this diary at least.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1001 , Saturday 25/07/2026 Saturday started just after 7am & we had a relaxed breakfast before I did my chores. Then off across the hills to treat my Dad to a meal at his favourite eatery for his birthday! The journey across took forever as there were roadworks everywhere! We had a Lovely lunch (I admit to succumbing to the temptation of the Brunch but will be having the chicken & beef sizzle that my sister had next time because it looked & smelt fabulous! We had a lovely time & an uneventful trip back. They make some magnificent cakes where we had lunch & being full after the main course said cake was boxed & brought home for a very naughty early supper which we enjoyed while watching ‘Predestination’ a moderately mind bending movie but a decent watch! Final Thoughts. A really good day - it rained on us all the way home but to be fair we really, really need some rain! (For those who are curious it was a truly epic piece of fresh strawberry Victoria sponge cake!) Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 901 , Thursday 16/04/2026

Up just before 7am this morning but was feeling a bit lazy so read until the hour struck.

Bit of a busy morning, posted a card to a friend in Cork Hospital, & then went on to the leisure centre to pick up my membership card.
A slice of lemon drizzle cake might have accidentally been bought & escorted home too! 😆

I was going to go shopping but we still have plenty of food in the freezer so I have deferred that until next week so there is more space for some decent grub!

Spent the afternoon flying around the Milky Way, I sussed how to use the commerce map to help me find the entry fee for Liz Ryder - it’ll have cost me in excess of ½ a million credits to see this lass, she best be the bee’s flipping knees!

Final Thoughts.

My leg was much better this morning when I got up & has continued to behave itself thru the day so I’m going to risk it going to the gym tomorrow - I’m kinda hoping the exercise will help it along!

Really quite nervous about the whole gym thing, having to meet other peoples expectations &, more importantly, my own!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 997 , Tuesday 21/07/2026 Tuesday started around 7am. I’ve done a few things around the house & in the garden today, nothing major but I’m glad I got them done. Have finally got around to ordering some lockable ladder brackets for our big set of ladders that have been knocking around the back garden without a proper home for far too long. Pulled pork burgers & salad for tea & I caved to the temptation of hitting the strawberries & ice cream for pud. It’s amazing how far one can stretch a punnet with a bit of imagination. Final Thoughts. The weather continues to play nice & that has made today a positively pleasant day. Back to the gym in the morning - still something that needs a force of will, hopefully there will come a time where it is just habit. But then while I am a right short arse, I am mostly legs it seems! Yes spleen ejection is to be avoided at all costs, they don’t do well outside the host! 😁 Me, run! Nah mate, I can walk quickly but rarely run anywhere - I like my knees & they object to being over taxed! I need to get a handle on my diet - my problem is that I can resist everything … except temptation! 🫣 Have a most excellent day & keep an eye on that spleen!! 😊🫶
