Fidesz' massive defeat comes despite:

multiple active Russian disinformation campaigns
the US government actively supporting Fidesz
Fidesz owning the majority of TV & radio stations + newspapers
Fidesz having gerrymandered the crap out of the country
many documented cases of voter suppression & paying disinfrenchised voters for support
Fidesz pouring unprecedented $$$ into their campaign

Feeling a little proud of my country for the first time in a while 🇭🇺

Hungary update: All the ministerial appointments from the new govt. have so far been completely sane and reasonable. Real experts with vaguely reasonable opinions, not yes-men or corrupt family members.

This shouldn't feel like it's news, but after 16 years of Orban's cleptocracy I have such a hard time processing this. As if one day Putin lost an election and suddenly the country was just ... normal??? I fully know we're in a honeymoon phase, but it is also just so incredibly liberating to see

I rarely ever see Nothing phones in the wild, but their earphones & headphones are everywhere in hip cafes, gyms and offices across Berlin. I think they really managed to achieve what very few electronics brands have: building devices that people find cool who normally live inside an Apple bubble and who wouldn't even consider alternatives.

2/3rds of the parliament looks very likely for the new party leading Hungary, meaning they can clean up all the corrupt mess Fidesz left. Let's hope they do! 💪💪💪

I have just learned that a close family member has recenlty gotten themselves completely into conspiracy theories. Covid vaccines carrying nanobots, 15 minute cities lockign you in, agenda 2030, whatever that might be, etc. They get all the nonsense from Facebook reels. I feel that they still doubt a lot of this and have asked me what I think about them, which tells me there is a window of time for an intervention. They were somewhat receptive towards me refuting individual points, but seemed convinced that in general "the elites" are trying to ruin everything. So even if I refute one point, 3 new ones take their place. Have you ever experienced this? Do you have any suggestions for how to deal with it? I could really use some advice if you have...

RE: https://mstdn.social/@noelreports/116773132279907611 Insane to think that this is Moscow. If these attacks become common in Moscow then I think it will do a lot of damage to the Russian psyche. It will completely change how the war feels to them and might make them wonder whether they want the war to continue. And there is no reason to assume the attacks will slow.

I did a deep dive into what works and what doesn't for electrifying ships:
- What are the physical limitations?
- How far has electrification come?
- What clever designs exist already?
- Which types of boats can't be electrified?

Now on Nebula:

Coming to YT later.

TechAltar — Electric ships are finally starting to make sense

Electric container ships like the Ningyuan Diankun, ferries like the Candela P12, yachts like the Silent Yachts 62, etc. are finally starting to make electric and solar powered shipping a reality, but many challenges remain. The Story Behind

I'll be in Seoul for a project next week. While there, I'll want to film a city tour / tech vlog like I've done 3 times now already. These are my favorite videos to make and have also been very well received. If you know the city, please let me know what you think I should visit and film. I want to experience how technology impacts everyday lives in the city.

Transportation infrastructure
Phone apps
Everyay tech
Energy
Interesting companies, etc.

Also if you know a local who would be a good person to meet and chat to about life in Soul, I'm interested too!

(And on an unrelated note, I'm not saying no to food recommendations, tho they'd have to be vegetarian, lol)

Replying to

@MostlyBlindGamer@dragonscave.space My take is that much of Hungary IS conservative on things like immigration, so you simply can't have a majority government and not be conservative on some of those issues. But so far they are doing so with much less vitriol and extremism. Also, the main goal is first to just have functioning institutions and to clean out corruption. This has to happen before we get to complain about political leanings, and he seems to be doing this.

Has good auto-correct
Supports 4 languages, incl. Chinese

@notjustbikes@social.notjustbikes.com Yeah it's like conservative politicians advocating for maglev trains. It allows them to simultaneously pretend to suppor transit while knowing full well that the specific transit they "support" has no chance of succeeding so they know the actual outcome is just more cars
