#ScribesAndMakers How do you feel about illustrations in (non-comic) books?

I adore illustrations in any book. Even some of my sheet music comes with illustrations and I just love it!!! :BlobCat_Love:

A migraine day is bad enough, but a migraine day where, when you wake up from a nap, you find a GINORMOUS spider on the wall next to your head?!? Gah! :blobconcerned: :blobdizzy: :blob_sign_no:

(The spider now lives in our backyard. Luckily, it was a very slow spider!)

(I'm so glad we no longer live in our old house: My teenage years and my early 20s were haunted by ginormous black spiders - with thick legs!!! - that resided in our house. I would often wake up in the middle of the night because I had heard a spider dropping onto my desk. :blobpanic: And *these* spiders were superfast! It was almost impossible to catch them. :blobugh:)

What do you do when you really, really, really LOVE going to the campingsite and spending time with your little caravan, but you tend to miss your piano while there? You get an itty-bitty mini keyboard with 37 mini keys and then you try to figure out which bits of your repertoire you can squeeze onto it. :blobderpy:

Here is Leopold Kozeluch, Sonata 37, Moderato, with only a tiny bit of squeezing around the edges.

Good morning, lovely tooting friends! ☀️ Have a wonderful Thursday!

#PennedPossibilities — How long have you been writing or when did you start?

Oh goodness. I started to write basically as soon as I could write, and even before that, I was already inventing stories to amuse myself. I drew pictures of some stories onto a notepad and pretended it was a book, and on one occasion, I also dictated a story to my mom.

And once I was able to write, there was no stopping me. :blob3c:

Once I hit puberty, I wrote melancholic poetry (as you do) and eventually attempted my first baby steps toward publication: When I was 19, I joined a reading for amateur writers - but the whole thing was a bit of a disaster. In the end, I turned back to fiction and wrote several YA fantasy novels.

Which no German publisher wanted (no Austrian or Swiss publisher either...).

This called for Plan B as I was determined not to let my dream of becoming a published author die. So I switched languages and genres - and have been writing historical romance in English ever since.

And eventually, in 2005, I did become a published author and have been making readers cry since then. 😎

I really want to get my newsletter going again. I miss the joy of putting together pretty e-mails, but starting again feels a little scary. Will people still want to read my e-mails?

So I'm telling myself it will be fine; I can start with baby steps, a newsletter a month, perhaps.
