Raye with an Aye
Polyamorous non-binary trans person from Chicago. I do tech stuff, specifically DevOps stuff, specifically Kubernetes stuff, specifically stuff that doesn't work most of the time.
Profile: White person with blue/purple/pink curly hair in a sideshave wearing purple rectangle glasses, a check-patterned dark purple suit jacket and silver necklace above a black turtleneck, and a 'they/them' pronoun pin.
Header: A photo of the Chicago skyline taken from the Chicago river.
Last day at my job. I would say I've kept a pretty consistent vibe throughout my entire tenure there... 😅
Uggg, I feel like I'm reaching the "is the boy mode in the room with us?" stage of transition now that I'm a little over two years into HRT 😅
I'm often surprised that cis people don't understand the difference between the use of 'man' in these two types of sentences:
"Man, it's really hot out today"
"Great recommendation on that movie, man. I really enjoyed it."
Sorry everyone, AI coding agents are actually my fault. I found a monkey's paw a few years ago and wished for my coworkers to put more detail in the descriptions of their Pull Requests. My bad! 🙊
Anyone else feel like the way their memory works is kind of like a "Perpetual Stew" where new stuff just gets thrown into the pot and becomes indistinguishable from the rest over the course of decades? Like, the newer ingredients are a little more identifiable, but ultimately everything is mixed.
If you ask me what I did last weekend on Monday I will just completely draw a blank and literally have to look at my calendar. Then I'll look at it and be like "oh yeah that's right it was the 4th of July so I went to a fireworks show" 😅 Even remarkable things just go immediately into the soup.
I was trying to figure out what could give me away as a Chicagoan in New York City and I think it's shouting "coming out!" when trying to leave a crowded subway car. Does anyone do that here? 🤔
