This is a pretty disappointing post Rimu. It appears very out of character from your usual content and feels like a bit of a hit piece. Also why post it to !fediverse@lemmy.world when you have !fediverse@piefed.social?

Is my tech doing something wrong? My laser is a 10 minute zap that I barely notice and doesn’t hurt the second it stops. Electrolysis scares me and I’ll probably need it for my upper lip area.

I use nation wide trans run clinic that offers cheap prices for trans customers, so luckily I think I can rule price gouging out. According to the email they send after each session, I'm on 14J/CM setting - whatever 14 joules per cm entails exactly. I'm only on session 3 for laser, I'll go up until 7 or 8 before making the move to electro - I'm seeing progress everywhere but the lips+ area. Mostly I'm scared of the risk of scarring from electrolysis.

Oh wow I didn’t know Lemmy-Federate shared WordPress blogs and other software. That’s really cool. How does that look like on Lemmy? Is the community the blogs name or something?

Thanks Blaze - would love it if you could recommend it to any instance admins you know. The more instances who participate the better discoverability for new communities to grow.

Signing up for both causes no harm and provides redundancy. This one offers adding communities through the Threadiverse via messaging the bot. Meaning it can be used completely independently of ever visiting the site straight from your app of choice. It also has a PieFed plugin (thanks to the wonder @wjs018@piefed.social) in the works that will auto add new comms on any instance running the plugin to the database. Just waiting for a hook to be merged into a future PF update before that can be finalised.

You can play with it here: https://pylova-test.anarchistflotilla.org/post/3464/comment/71606#comment_71606 That was a very long post, let me know if I missed any part of that. What I got from it was clearer comment link, no double up on ‘type’ of link, it jumps down the page to comment, and moved the Fediverse link from the … menu. Was that everything? Replying to someone is already in-line and doesn’t move around from what I understand of what you’re asking. So I’m not sure if I’m misunderstanding you or the behaviour is different on PF.

Sadly the UN is ineffectual, being dictated to by the largest and most influential. It ignores the plights of smaller nations, and results in factionalism. I think the model of the FAF with its focus on giving power back to its users and promoting instance voting on decisions is a much better system to emulate. Ultimately what we need are less admins who act on their own, and more community accountability for decision making. Having many smaller people led communities can allow for free association between groups who share likeminded ethics.

PyLova v0.3.2 Released! Muffles, Reels, Flags, Bookmarks, and more! PyLova (Python+Pavlova) is a soft fork of PieFed, aimed at improving the user experience through UI overhauls, empowering users and admins with agency, improved administration and moderation functions, and general bug fixing. New in V0.3.2 New & Improved Muffle Users : Instead of outright blocking a user, you can now ‘Muffle’ them. This will place their content behind a spoiler. This functionality has also been extended to the filter system. Live Posts : Mods can designate a post as a Live Post. A Live Post will continuously update with new comments coming through while sorting by new. This is great for keeping track on currently happening events such as global news or sports. Reel View : This is a new way to browse the site, putting it into ‘Reel’ view shows one post per scroll. Cuts out the noise, allowing you to appreciate one post at a time. User Flags : Want to show off who you are? Add a flag next to your pronouns. These small flags can be set by instance admins, great show showing Pride Flags, Sports Teams, Nationalities, Political Ideologies, etc. Bookmark Organisation : Users can now sort their bookmarked posts and comments by folders. Admin Notes : Admins and Instance Moderators can share notes about users on their profile page, this can be handy in building a history of bad behaviour or sharing concerns. Account Oversight : Admins and Instance Moderators have greater ability to search through a users upvoted and downvoted content. New Theme : Nocturne Core @luminous5481@anarchist.nexus has wonderfully created a Sci-Fi inspired theme you can apply. Bug-Fixes & Misc Lemmy/Mbin support for Multi-Image Posts : Multi-Image Posts will now add the extra images into the post body for users on Lemmy and Mbin so they don’t have to miss out on your amazing content. Censorship Transparency : On the instance about page, there is now a one-stop location for viewing what sort of things are being censored by your instance. Options Menu : The menu has been updated with a more navigable UI in 3 Panel Mode. Reactions Only Mode : A small setting for instance admins to ‘turn off’ up and downvotes, letting posts only have emoji reactions. Note, emoji reacts do technically count as an upvote and this is more of a visual change in regards to user view. Trusted Instances Only Federation : Communities can already be set to local only, this feature allows communities to only be visible on those in your instances trusted list. Banned Users can now unsubscribe from a community, allowing them to remove it from their feed. Blocked/Unfederated Instances now show more information, such as allowing for reasons why it was removed. Poll Post Type teasers had a slight visual inconsistency, their icon should now align properly with every other post type. Flair, Tags, & Live Status all follow the same visual format. Also now visible on post teasers. General Performance Improvements. Code Refactoring to follow a more pythonic style guide and reduce McCabe complexity.

What’s to ‘account’ for banning people? Do moderators reflect instances or communities? If communities have high rates of bad-faith posters engaging to troll and harass them, is that something that needs to be held to ‘account’?

More communities could mean an increase in traffic, but realistically I feel 90% of Threadiverse communities get 2-3 posts before dying off. Very few remain active or grow big enough to see any impact on performance.

The thing is, nothing is automated. From what I can see it only flags potential posts for a mod/admin to verify and act on. It’s not like this is a bot that scans everyone’s posts and automatically bans them, it’s an entirely manual process to download a comment history and AI ctrl-f for stuff. There has been some deceptive information spread around what this tool seems to actually do. Which is especially concerning after the recent (proven) misinformation about Nazis infiltrating our instances.

Anti-Suffrage Posters of America in the Early 1900s Context: “Before the 19th Amendment, there was an entire movement built to stop it. Organized opposition to women’s suffrage started as early as the 1880s in Massachusetts, but went national in 1911 when the National Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage (NAOWS) was founded. Led by Josephine Dodge, the group argued women were too “delicate” for politics, that voting would destroy the family & that most women simply didn’t want to vote. It worked… for a while. By 1916 NAOWS had grown to over 350,000 members across 25 states, funded partially by the liquor industry, which feared women voters would push through Prohibition. They lost. On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified, and NAOWS dissolved shortly after. These posters are the propaganda that almost kept women from voting. Women, you must remember that the vote was never handed over, it was fought for against people who worked just as hard to take it away. Somewhere, someone was on the other side of these posters. They were organizing, getting arrested, going on hunger strikes and more, so that a right this basic wouldn’t be up for debate. Sitting out an election is a disservice to every woman who fought this fight so you wouldn’t have to. Use your right. " Source: https://www.instagram.com/p/DdNDdqWFId7/?img_index=1

https://quokk.au/u/quokka3 - is the one I’m using for quokk.au. Each instance needs its own account, and the account must be added by that instances admin to allow the choice to opt in/out. Is some of the communities it has subscribed that have been added to federation.quokk.au.
