This is my 5,001 post on Mastodon. 🐘 I signed up in Dec 2022 uncertain what I was getting into. Since then, I’ve found an embracing community of people from all over the world. 🌍 I’ve seen more beautiful pictures than I can count 🌸 and shared some heartbreaking and some wonderful news with souls I’ve not met embodied. ❤️🩹 Thank you all for being you. I love it here.

I’ve started wearing a wedding ring again, even though I’ve been married for close to 7 years now.
Here’s the thing: I was married before, and we got married our last semester at university. That marriage did not go well. We split before our third anniversary and were divorced just after our fourth anniversary. I was devastated.
Now, like I said, marriage 2 is approaching 7 years (in July). I’ve been reluctant to wear a ring for the simple reason that I wasn’t sure this one would be different. I was scarred and scared.
But I realize, that while not perfect, I am happier and better off in marriage 2 than I ever was in marriage 1. And I want to celebrate that, and share it with those I meet, if only through the presence of a ring.
Side note: I wear a silicone ring, not a metal ring, because of sensory reasons and comfort. I just ordered some new rings I think I’ll like to mark the celebration.
Also, totally ok to not wear a ring if they aren’t your thing. I find most rings ostentatious as it is.
I’m having a very down day. It’s hotter than hell’s ice box here in north Texas (though as cool as heaven’s oven inside), and I can’t muster the umph to do anything, so here I sit. I kinda hate it.
My Sunday hasn’t been too bad. Before the heat arose, I cut the back run of grass, threw my clothes in the laundry, and took a nap. Now I’m watching baseball and relaxing.

I spent my morning cleaning my bathroom (my wife and I have separate ones) and then sweeping/vacuuming/mopping. The house feels fresh and clean for once. Dusting will have to be another day or days.
Now I’m laundering my clothes, and resting in between while the machines do their thing. A washer/dryer are modern conveniences I absolutely love, as long as they are dumb, dial driven machines and not computers with wash/dry tubs attached.
Anyway. It has been a productive Friday so far.
This week has been accidentally relaxing.
It started by my going into work on Tuesday, then being told by my boss, after I texted him cause he didn’t show, that I could work from home all week. So I haven’t gone in at all. And there has been nothing for me to do.
On one hand, I am so glad that this job is going away, cause I’m tired of having jack all to do, but on the other hand, it’s a decent gig, having jack all to do and getting paid.
I don’t know what’s next, but for now, this isn’t a terrible way to spend a week.
Sigh.
When baseball is pay-per-view, at least in the States, we all lose.
