Norwich Cycling Campaign
We campaign for better cycling infrastructure in the city and surrounding area so that everyone, regardless of age or ability, has a choice of how to get about.
Let's make Norwich a fine city for cycling!

After years of lobbying, the damaged wands on the Earlham Road cycle lanes have finally been replaced. The wands are a new design without the wide black base, something we have been pressing for, so we’re pleased to see this.
Today in a Westminster Hall debate entitled “Women’s Safety While Walking, Wheeling, Cycling and Running”, Norwich North MP Alice Macdonald highlighted our Women’s Cycling Safety Audit as a vital model for gathering data on women’s lived experience of cycling.
The everyday barriers women face when cycling aren’t minor issues - they’re shaping national conversations about safety.
But we need more local voices. If you’ve ever felt held back from cycling because of safety concerns - whether it’s infrastructure, traffic or how safe you feel - please share your experience in our survey: https://www.norwichcyclingcampaign.org/womensaudit-survey/
Your lived experience is evidence — and it helps push for change.
We’re hosting a zine-making workshop as part of our Women's Cycling Safety Audit.
We’re inviting women, girls and gender-diverse people to use collage, drawing and writing to create zines — handmade mini-magazines — about their experiences of cycling in Norwich. It’s not about being “good at art” — it’s about telling stories that don’t always get heard.
No registration required — just come along on the day!

This spring, Norwich Cycling Campaign is launching a Women’s Cycling Safety Audit — a city-wide project to understand how safe cycling feels for women, girls and gender-diverse people in Norwich, and what needs to change to make everyday cycling work better for everyone.
Across the UK, women are less likely to cycle than men. This audit looks beyond the statistics, centring the lived, everyday experiences of women cycling in Norwich.
Over the coming months, we’ll be running activities across the city to gather women’s experiences. These will feed into an after-dark, on-the-ground audit of Norwich’s cycleways, and a final report with clear, practical recommendations for change.
If safety or street design has shaped your cycling choices, your experiences are central to this work. There are lots of ways to take part — including drop-in sessions, group rides, a zine-making workshop, an online survey and the audit itself.

Too often the assumption is that making streets safer "for everyone" will naturally make cycling safer for women too.
This latest blog explores why women-centred approaches are essential if cycling is truly going to be accessible to all.

New video on the dangerous crossing being proposed for the A47 at Longwater.
Norfolk County Council knew in 2014 that a dedicated walking and cycling bridge was "essential" (their words) to provide a safe crossing, so why are we still going ahead with a narrow “get off and push” footway inches from HGVs?

Our season of social rides got off to a fine start today as we headed out to Ketteringham and Hethersett.
On the way there we took in the massive roadworks at the A47 Thickthorn junction from the top of the old footbridge.
