A ★★★ review of Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)

Oh good. More superhero content. By far the second best movie with Zendaya, Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland released this month. A very busy movie with a lot of story strands to juggle, and the movie mostly succeeds but after almost a decade and four movies, there's very little left to see that's surprising or engaging...but after 4 movies you're well aware of the formula and don't care. Not quite the fan service bukkake No Way Home was and the villains (secret and otherwise) be

A ★★★ review of Tremors (1990)

One of the most beloved horror comedies from the 90s except from people in my area code because this really happened during that summer creatures came from underground and started eating my neighbors. Maybe the only thing I've ever seen Reba McEntire in in its (Mc)Entirety. Funny, but not as funny as you'd hope. Some scares, but more muted than you remember. One of those nostalgia goggles movies that aren't as good when you see them as an adult, but still a fun watch. I remember Kevin Bacon's ha

A ★★★½ review of Evil Dead Burn (2026)

The Evil Dead series gets a French Extremity makeover and only PG and E is more responsible for more dangerous fires. Gives you another reason to avoid your family at all costs. Relentless gore almost from the jump. There is very little wasted screentime, but there's also very little time for an audience to have a release point. You suffer from "battle fatigue" as you get numb to what's going on without a moment to digest. Crosses lines you wouldn't expect as you admire EDB's

Not the movie you'd expect to have such high gloss talent like Christian Bale, Toni Collette and Jeffrey Wright but at least you're not getting shafted when it comes to acting chops. You don't mind the disjointed story when Samuel L. Jackson is in full badass mode and you'll always wonder about the cut scenes Christian Bale lamented about during interviews, but it's still really entertaining and reminds of you of the talent we lost when John Singleton died...despite that

"It's COVID!!!" Lethal spores, molds, and fungi along with the most random eclectic cast keep you minorly invested in this horror comedy that's light on horror and comedy but heavy on green ooze. Starts off promisingly enough but uneven pacing and repetitive scenes keep Cold Storage stuck in neutral for most of its running time. You keep waiting for Cold to eventually get hot but you settle for intermittent scares and seeping sores. For those of you who wanted to see Vanessa Redgrave i

A ★½ review of The Snowman (2017)

Inert crime thriller you only remember because Michael Fassbender's character is named Harry Hole. A wonderful cast is wasted as the film doesn't seem to know where it's going. Rebecca Ferguson's character changes motivation seemingly every other scene. Sequences don't add up and are then abandoned. I read that the production ran out of money so things couldn't be shot to clear things up. Actual Snowmen would rather melt than sit through this. Val Kilmer?

She does all the heavy lifting and just happens to be in all the bearable parts of HPH. A movie so mediocre Francis Ford Coppola is thinking of selling some of his estate to recoup some of its losses. A movie that almost dares you to walk out of it like people did at Cannes. "Fuck you, Damian McCarthy"- Mick McBrigadoon, Head of the Irish Tourism Board. An effective lo-fi ghost story, You have atmosphere by the gallon, some well paced jump scares (especially that...you know) and the best use of goats since Drag Me to Hell. This isn't rated higher because of the bookend scenes. They take you completely out of the movie. You get what D-Mac was trying to do thematically, but it undercuts a lot of the tension and release of what you've just seen. Oddity is sti

"So wet you need 'brellas from Cherbourg/ So smooth it's like U used Nair Bourg" - Jacques Demy sample lyrics from a deleted scene. The umbrellas are for the tears I'm crying. One of the few musicals I've seen that feels like the only way the story could be told is through music. Every time I go to Cherbourg to get my car fixed, I always hug the mechanic. He always says, (in French) "You just saw that Umbrella movie, didn't you?". I ugly cry "Yes", and then we sing a song together. He's not a ve

Cerebral sci-fi with a minimalist budget from the guy that eventually did...Warcraft. Still my favorite Sam Rockwell performance (close second being 3 Billboards) despite having a fake beard made from the remains of highway roadkill. The less you know going into this the better, but if you didn't actually see it in theaters in 2009 it was probably spoiled for you but it doesn't lose much of its power even if you know the second act turn. Leslie Bibb uses this movie as porn.

The perfect movie for when you can't figure out the perfect movie to decide on. Stoner comedy that's slightly better than you think it's going to be, but only just.
