I'm an avid gamer and designer of table-top games, especially TTRPGs.

My favorite board games are chess and World in Flames. I'm in a committed relationship, and I love the Lakers.

I'm also a musician, and I appreciate humor, especially political.

Profile pic is me, and header is the landing screen for the Array.

@Willow I will throw sand in the gears of marginalization, by feigning ignorance and incompetence, and eventually I will be indignant that they feel the need to check what's in my pants. As a straight white Christian with English as his first language, I am entitled to the Right of Karen: "Who is your supervisor?"

@ana@starlite.rodeo I know right away where I invite them to put their opinions. LGBTQ+ people are just people, and many even do 'traditional' family just fine if they choose it.

TwiX chased me off several years ago, and I have tried other social media platforms, yet they've been mostly disappointing. Everywhere I've looked other than here I see a proliferation of trolls, bots, propaganda and intrusive advertising. The Fediverse is the only place where I feel safe from most of that gunk. Thanks John!

I know zones are all the rage, but for our home brew, I'm moving to the pace as the standard (2.5 ft or .75 m). It matches what we intuitively understand as humans. "I move to the next zone" is less narrative than "I take three steps". Also, with paces reach has useful discrete increments.

Who is on your Mount Rushmore of TTRPGs? This is 'greatness' not 'favorite'', otherwise D&D would not be on my list. l'll start. I'm old so take that as context. D&D Call of Cthulhu Traveller World of Darkness #TTRPG #MountRushmore

I frankly don't know whether or not DJT believes in God, but I do think that if he does he pretty much hates Him. How Christians can look to that wholly unrepentant man as their leader is beyond me. Say what you want about the Catholic Church, but the Pope is right about this administration.

Good news! Gas has come down in price. It's now only $1.58 more per gallon than when Biden left office. And plus, the war may be ending soon, as Iran may have agreed to address the nuclear issue at some point in the future. /s

@kemotep It's your Mount Rushmore. For me, everything with 'D&D' on it qualifies but your standard may be different. Some would even put all D&D-adjacent games (such as Pathfinder) in with it. I can see someone choosing D&D editions as separate faces on the mountain.

@bevanthomas The Kalevala is so whimsical, especially when compared to the Völsunga and the Nibelungenlied.

@TimmyMac What a great book, with a wow ending. It moved me, and so I was sad when I learned that Pirsig's son from the book was later murdered, because their relationship reminded me a bit of mine with my son.

@gwynnion Yeah he's a dick. Just being right about some scientific stuff does not get you into the Good People's Club. One might say he gives evolutionary biologists a bad name.

I discovered Ludlum in an airport. Not the greatest prose, but man his books are action-packed!

@JunkyardTornado I think of Palladium as just fine for what it does. It is simpler than GURPS or Rolemaster, and has a lot of resources.

Drove 7 hours to see Uli Jon Roth in Denver two nights ago. It was amazing, and I kind of wish I had discovered old Scorpions long before I did. To me, their albums started with Love Drive for all I knew. Then my friend Wayne turned me on to those early albums, and now that's the era I prefer to listen to.

Replying to

@ivancoluchi I enjoy GURPS for human scale games, such as modern, near future, historical or low fantasy. I find that higher power levels call for simpler rules. I'll have to look into Tormenta.

@malteengeler I find Gemini to be a wiggly mirror trying to reflect what it thinks you want to see, and stubbornly resists rigor. It's like a bad employee in a book store who keeps pointing you to the fiction section when you're looking for a science book.

@gmshoward I think Champions character generation is amazing. I haven't played anything remotely recently, but when I did back in the mid 80s Champions was a lot of fun, although the speed chart is very dated now.
