New blog post! "Really Radical" talks about how to handle teaching a tough topic in #algebra2 so students aren't lost in the weeds.

Hello @christianp@mathstodon.xyz or anyone else who can detect alt-text in a Wordpress post. Can you check the alt-text on my "Really Radical" post on working with radicals/surds?
I had trouble deciding how to write alt text for square root of x, is it better to type sqrt x or write out the words?

THANKS in advance! I'm trying to make the post #accessible but not sure how to best do it.

Replying to
@christianp in general, math tests without enough space for a student to work, especially if they are fine motor skill and handwriting isn't fabulous.

@divbyzero@mathstodon.xyz ok, now do the cone vs. cylinder question... cylinder = 3•cone volume. Or cone vs (cylinder – cone) which would be 2•cone volume. Or my absolute favorite: truncate a cone to make a frustum. Then the removed cone part and the frustum have volume ratio cone : frustum = cone height: (cone + frustum height)
