@JulianOliver@mastodon.social Absolutely. Methane, however, is also a potent climate gas, but one that doesn't hang around anywhere nearly as long as CO2, breaks down after a decade or so. So methane emissions is one area where reduction *can* reverse some warming effects within a generation. https://www.unep.org/news-and-stories/story/methane-emissions-are-driving-climate-change-heres-how-reduce-them Which is not at all to say we should be complacent, or relax about CO2, rather that we need *also* to be phasing out methane where possible too.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services boosting this, in the hope that others mute my boosts. I imagine I get pretty annoying if anyone's paying attention....

@jdking92@dragonscave.space @alice@mk.nyaa.place @anon_opin@mastodon.social Exactly yeah. As if the struggle isn't part of it!

@alice@mk.nyaa.place @anon_opin@mastodon.social @jdking92@dragonscave.space Very true, just reflecting on the recent interview with one of the AI tech bros (I forget which, probably Suno) that used this language about there being no barriers to creation now, talking about all those hours of being bad at something before you're able to make art, and now you can just make whatever you want (as long as it's slop...). I hugely agree that music and art lessons should be free to all kids, no disagreement from me at all.

@jdking92@dragonscave.space @anon_opin@mastodon.social I read it as an anti-AI statement, as in the barrier to entry is spending several years practicing your craft. If they meant socio-economic, then I fully agree with your assessment.

@dangillmor@mastodon.social done. Thanks for sharing.

@stefan@social.lol ah man, sorry to hear that. Solidarity.

@Silver moi aussi.

@QasimRashid@mastodon.social thanks for posting this. Putting pressure on local officials to repeal 287g agreements seems like a good thing to focus on! Sending solidarity from the UK

@stux@mstdn.social I fear we've got another decade or so

@ORIOliver@newsie.social do you think they'd be announcing green policies if they hadn't been beaten in Gorton by the Greens? If they're worried about losing votes to the left. The upcoming Manchester mayoral election, for example, is a great opportunity to vote Green first and Labour second. Remind them we need action on climate change.

@mikeday@ohai.social @anon_opin@mastodon.social same

@mansr@society.oftrolls.com @mike@sauropods.win @anon_opin@mastodon.social [side point: the open mic nights I used to frequent in the early 2000's in Manchester had a specific NO OASIS rule. Which was nice]
