@cstross@wandering.shop This is part of why I do as much work as possible (probably more than is practical!) inside emacs. Doesn’t really matter if the desktop experience deteriorates if the interface I’m using is constant. I realise this isn’t a universal solution…

@Loosf@yiff.life so that’s my experience of coding LLMs too. They shift more work from the developer to the reviewer. Which is a big problem since most projects have fewer people with the competency to review well than to develop, and hence the bottleneck of review gets even narrower.

@cstross@wandering.shop yeah, I sympathise with that. Made changes a couple of decades back to avoid those issues myself… But I think your broader point remains: desktop OSes keep going backwards, so it drives people to alternatives. In my case, that’s emacs, in other cases it may be their mobile phone or something else entirely.

I realise football is not the big story about America’s behaviour. But even FIFA can’t be so corrupt as to keep part of the World Cup in the USA.

Be a hell of a statement to move some of the group stage matches to Greenland or Denmark! But surely no matches can be in Trumpland.
