Illegal wildlife trafficking is easy to condemn. But what changes when the same animals are bought, sold, bred and displayed legally? Monsters of God exposes the reptile trade 🐍

For everyone that thinks we need lab-grown meat to have food that tastes like meat, these are nuggets are made from plants.

Cultivated meat is accused of being “made from cancer cells”. But animals farmed for food get tumours too, and slaughterhouses have rules for cutting them out. If flesh is what scares you, there is another option: eat plants.

Humans do not need more authority over other animals. We need less. The wild is not a broken machine waiting for human repair.

High blood pressure affects more than 1.4 billion people worldwide. A new meta-analysis found that just 28g of nuts a day was associated with a 20% lower risk of developing hypertension.

What's the hardest part of being vegan? Probably your loved ones exploiting and killing those you've sworn to protect.

22 dead hares were found laid out in rows on a Kent farm. Britain calls hare coursing cruel. But if killing hares is wrong when criminals do it, why does it become acceptable when someone else pulls the trigger?

If one person sees the rejection of animal use as a serious ethical position while the other sees it as annoying, restrictive, or dramatic, they are not simply choosing different dinners. They are operating from different moral universes.

Humans can leave the trees standing and still destroy the forest. In Malaysia, white-handed gibbons living beside a highway called far less often than those in quieter areas. Noise pollution is changing what habitat means 🌳

Fishes barely register in debates about animal experiments. Around 382,000 have already been used, are being used or approved for REACH toxicity tests, with up to 680,000 more potentially required.
Why are we still doing this? 🐟

A leading UK food-safety scientist is now calling for warning labels on processed meat. Professor Chris Elliott, founder of the Institute for Global Food Security at Queen's University Belfast, has told a new BBC Panorama investigation that there is a strong link between nitrates and nitrites used in products such as bacon and ham and bowel cancer. He has criticised the Food Standards Agency's response and called for warning labels on packaging.
