Think you need proper sockets/plugs to do it safely rather than the technically works but you may die if you touch the pin kinda cable. Then just flip the circuit breaker to remove that ring from the grid. But that wouldn’t cover cooking or my heat pump. Not sure if that could properly be done as a DIY job. Though doing 1 ring from the battery would make it pretty easy to measure my non cooking/heating energy usage. Suppose lighting is separate but that should be all LEDs anyway.

Yep, moved away from fossil fuels the moment I was responsible for paying the energy bill. Within a month I called the provider to cut the gas connection because I don’t want it. I spent more than strictly necessary but part of that was for partner approval. About £7k total and I could have had it with an interest free loan if I wanted which would be paid for by the energy savings but I had the money so I just paid it outright.

Of course they have more in total as its absolutely massive. Do you compare per person, per thing achieved? Either way though, decarbonising more things will also bring more options as we go forward. Even if some use cases just have to be fuel you still have biodiesel as an option which becomes more practical as everything which more easily transitions does so. If you half the overall diesel consumption you can double the amount of it made up of biodiesel without having to change biodiesel production rates at all.

Sort of agree but it also depends on what you mean by grind. A game like war thunder or enlisted you could call it a grind to unlock top tier things, or throw money at it. Or you can just play the game for fun while spending little to nothing. Seriously, I have had conversations with other players before and even if I wanted to spend £100 on either game there is nothing really worth me spending it on.
