Freemap Europe
NGO and Slovak Local Chapter of OpenStreetMap.
Developers of the open-source outdoor map platform https://www.freemap.eu
Detailed European outdoor maps, routing, GPX tools, terrain shading.
Powered by OpenStreetMap data.
Isn’t it common that you navigate somewhere by car 🚗, switch to a bike 🚴, park it in the mountains 🅿️, take a hiking loop 🚶 (partly off-trail - straight through the wilderness 🐻), return to the bike 🚴♂️, ride back to the car 🚗, and then continue driving elsewhere ☁️?
With Freemap, you won’t get lost. We’re introducing multimodal routing: choose your preferred transport mode for each leg of your journey.
You can now design your own shaded relief of any place in Europe directly on www.freemap.sk. All you need is a modern browser with WebGPU support.

Curious about OSM in Slovakia? @opencage@en.osm.town interviewed us — mapping community, freemap.sk, open government data troubles, and where we see OSM in 10 years. Worth a read 👇
We have fine-tuned the rendering area of the Freemap outdoor map, and on this occasion we have also added Svalbard.
However, we hope you will forgive us that terrain shading and route search are still missing there for now 🥶
Today we finally added rendering of island and islet names.
Now you can see status of our services online!
The first photo in the Freemap Photo Gallery was uploaded almost 17 years ago. Today the gallery has ~685k photos.
Freemap started as a Slovakia-focused project, so most photos are still from SK (~573k). Now that Freemap covers all of Europe, we would love to see the gallery grow across the whole continent.
We have just introduced a photo leaderboard showing the most active photographers: https://www.freemap.eu/#layers=X~I&show=gallery-leaderboard
📸 Upload your photos and help document Europe through images.
We have expanded the range of devices supported for tracking on www.freemap.sk - we now support more protocols!
