The complex/challenging builds include multi-media short run kits. If your subject isn't available as a main-stream these can get you there, but it's going to take more work. Managed to get a few other projects completed enough to shift focus back to the Tomcat revival for a bit. Primed first, a bit of clean-up from there and then today got around to the underside camouflage. Giving it a used but still well maintained aircraft look.

Onto the finer details of my MiG-29UB (which always takes a disproportionate amount of time to complete, however it does add to the effect) Now, if I can manage not to break them off every time I touch it, I may get it to The Hangar later today. @Moaske@social.vivaldi.net Marco, Neither, the F-14 that this aviator got was the 1/48th Italeri version. I had not seen it before. Not as bad as I thought it might be, but I wouldn't buy one. The panel lines are a bit deep and wide and the rivets are heavy. Cockpit is marginal (bears little resemblance). Gun vent and other details are off as well. Fit seems pretty decent and overall it looks like a Tomcat. Probably rate it 6/10 range. I have built the Monogram, Academy and Hasegawa Tomcats in the past.

Yes, there are always the (hopefully small) setbacks with the progress, especially when I forget to reference the instructions or notes… but then they eventually make it into The Hangar. It’s been a banner build year so far for me… with 5 projects on the go currently 🤩

@TheNovemberMan@bookstodon.com Lately I am using the Vallejo Metal Air paints, which I really like as they are water based (so no killer fumes) and there is no visible metal flake like there is in the Tamiya Aluminum. (The yellow rim bottle is the “new” release version.)

@TheNovemberMan@bookstodon.com Much appreciated TNF 👋 This GP kit certainly brought out the details in this aircraft. The resin and PE were excellent although a lot of work to fit. In the end it produced the results that made the efforts worth the investment.

Started the upper camouflage tonight in an highly unusual fashion with the darker tones first. However with this IIAF pattern it will be easier to mask off the dark strips and spray the light sand colour last. We will see how that works out as I don’t recall doing it in this order ever before. I will need to go back and work on a few of the brown areas still as I have some areas to cleanup some and I missed a couple of recoats on the tail. Progress on the IIAF Tomcat regardless 😺 #ModelAircraft
