Convincing students that doing work is part of learning, that friction and work and difficulty are essential to learning is one thing. I’m sure many of my students recognise this.
But having to figure out who is blatantly cheating by outsourcing this whole process to an LLM… is what makes grading nowadays so exhausting.
One of many frustrating parts is that assignments that used to visibly stimulate students’ creativity and expand their thinking, are hit hardest by this.

@kjhealy@mastodon.social Yeah but the really important question is: do you write your markdown in Emacs, the one true editor?!

Imagine a Venn diagram with two very small circles, with the smallest of intersections... This will only be of interest to a very particular niche, but: here is some code to launch the roguelike game Brogue from within Emacs via a transient menu:

@lukascbossert This looks absolutely amazing! You have linked the instructors guide, is there also a 'main page' or other entry point to get into these materials? Right now I'm a little lost between poster, meta-document, instructors guide, etc. (Or perhaps that's still coming, as you refer to this being a sneak preview?)

@lukascbossert I'll be looking a bit closer at the repository when I have the time, not just for what's in the poster but also because that is one impressive org file

@teoten@social.linux.pizza Ooh, I regularly work in R with Emacs. This is interesting. I'll check it out when I get the chance

@teoten@social.linux.pizza Ah, that explains a lot. I was checking the readme and didn't really get it. The dev readme is more interesting indeed
