When I make a Pokemon character I try to keep as close to their OG color palette as possible, seeing something like a blue Pikachu or a green Shinx just kinda takes me out of it tbh
My brain makes some exceptions of course for objectmons or pokemon based on animals where the color can vary a lot IRL
