I always ask myself “could this ideology produce a world class hospital” when thinking about if I agree with an ideology. Do you think a gift based communist economy could produce one? Not being snarky, I’m genuinely on the fence on one hand I say no but on the other hand, from an altruistic perspective a world class hospital is in everyone’s best interest so… maybe, yeah, it feels at least possible if you got a lot of other stuff right?

An NT person wouldn’t consider someone else not having something they were told to get to be their problem, it’s not like they can make trout appear, it is what it is. There’s no alternative action here, you just buy the fish unless you have an explicit reason not to like “ONLY buy trout” or “Don’t spend a single penny more than X” and since there’s no alternative action there’s nothing to worry about or consider, there is no reason to expect a negative consequence in this situation, and if there was it would be chalked up to the person who is upset being unreasonable. Most of them can also process language quickly enough scripts aren’t needed.

The types of people who say this stuff are solipsists if that helps. THEY can’t personally go see it land so from their perspective it’s fake

Maybe you can just agree to disagree expecting people to just admit their wrong and agree with you is… going to cause you a lot of trouble in life. Especially if it’s about opinions, opinions aren’t actually objective. Unless the person is way out in left field just agree to disagree, even then you’re probably better off just walking away from the conversation

The 2016 point is, on point. I remember the absolute flood of pro-Trump, incel, conservative content that felt completely inorganic and had very little representation prior popping up literally everywhere, everyday. It was like a firehose of far right fringe ideas was aimed at Reddit. Reddit 100% had problems prior but it was mostly focused on violence/sexual violence towards women and girls and wasn’t ever on the front page, other than maybe Jailbait. Even at the time people using Reddit were aware and talking about how unnatural it all seemed but now it’s too far gone and been normalized. I was a very early Reddit user, and a “power user” for over a decade who was permanently banned for “inciting violence” by saying I was surprised Kanye hadn’t murder/suicided Kim or Taylor yet as a joke. I think my far left progressive comments were more likely the reason.

What purpose would this serve? The temperature rating on my, stove… if my stove can’t handle its own ability to make heat no colored flame is going to make that a usable item. I just don’t see how a colored flame would be better than appropriate labeling and signage.

They are barbaric compared to Invisalign. My kids had traditional braces and every few months they’d go get them adjusted aka ratcheted down to the point of pain and the next week would be nothing but soft foods that still hurt to eat, headaches, tension headaches, facial and mouth pain, bad sleep. Slightly adjusting every week gets you minor soreness at worst for a day or two, it’s significantly more comfortable and at least where I live traditional braces are more expensive. In retrospect we should have probably not done traditional braces for our kids but losing trays/not keeping them on is a real problem with kids and Invisalign

Mine was $2500 to correct an open bite, a slight underbite and significant gapping caused by decades of open mouth breathing from chronic (constant) sinusitis. $7k seems bonkers but $2500 was doable for me and fixed a lot of my neck pain, a droopy eyelid (caused by the cross bite) and I’m glad I did it, definitely could not have afforded $7k though, that’s crazy

It seems weird it needs to be said but vaginal dryness and genital numbing are signs of extreme stress, it’s your body yelling at you to stop having sex. It’s not a normal part of aging it’s not a normal part of being in a long term relationship it doesn’t mean you need to spice things up on the bedroom it means your body feels unsafe with that partner. I grew up in the 90s and am a very aex positive person but sex education is almost never focused on female pleasure just how things work from a mechanical perspective and safety but emotional safety matters too and dryness or numbness mean you’re not emotionally safe

I no longer consider myself a Democrat, but they don’t need to know that, and I figure if I’m able to get more up close and personal, influence people in real time that would be a much better option than just not voting for these anti trans democrats or doing nothing.

Google just, talks to me now? I’m not searching technical stuff I have an old habit of just plugging random subjects or ideas into a search bar and seeing what the internet thinks not for any reason other than I find it interesting. But now Google wants to talk to me about those ideas or topics instead of showing me what the internet at large is saying/thinking about them. It’s definitely no longer a tool for finding new or unique ways of seeing or thinking about things.

I have a daughter who is almost 21 now. When she was much younger we talked about this kind of stuff a lot, about girls wholesale rejecting feminitity or their female identity and not doing it because of self exploration but rejection of what society tells us we should be. We talked a lot about the subjugation of women historically and up to current times, the deep strength, perseverance, commitment and determination the women we came from must have had, what an incredible sisterhood we belong to and how we are free to embrace it in any way we as (mostly) free women see fit, we don’t have to be women the way society tells us to be, we don’t have to add to the chorus of voices trying to define who and what women are. We, anyone, can embrace their feminine powerful nature, the nature that has born all of us despite even the slimmest of odds and channel that in ourselves and into the world. Needless to say I have a budding revolutionary spirit in my life and I could not be more proud of her.

That’s not mutually exclusive to the fact that men lack metacognition. Not being encouraged to express your emotions isn’t the same thing inherently as not having self awareness.
