LOL, she was soooo close for a moment, I guess. She’s still adhering to protein mythologies, it seems. It’s 2026. Do people still not know?
But I find it funny that the cons clutched their pearls so hard over Michelle suggesting kids get more exercise and eat vegetables. And now it’s a con that is depriving them of beef and telling them to make do.
I thought the liberals were going to make conservative eat bugs and live in a shoebox and own nothing?

Just wait until they start policing what those on food stamps are putting in their grocery carts again. I swear that was almost an entire genre of “reporting” for them for a while there.

That’s good to hear. Given all the inputs into things like beef, plant-based should almost always be cheaper. I’m still irritated when something vegetarian/vegan on the menu is as expensive or even more expensive than the omnivore edition.
Few things highlight the deep distortions that actual social engineering does to the marketplace as much as that.
Of course, buying certain ingredients and making plant-based yourself can often be far cheaper than eating out.

It’s too bad he’s holding up gigantic projects like wind and solar. Also, many subsidies for EV and rooftop solar disappeared. So, yeah, if he brought that back, demand might shoot way up thanks to the failed policies of donnie.

Well, she didn’t tell them to eat rice and beans, which would have been too woke, I guess. Even if much smarter on a whole lot of levels.
She pointed them at other animal foods, or as become the new fashion, “protein”.

Yeah, I figure the ragebait over having 20-somethings demand that politicians all just retire if they are over some arbitrary age (regardless of their position on, you know, the issues. Or their efficacy or anything like that, no, we need magical “term limits” and/or some age limit jammed down our throats instead of actually letting voters decide) was not enough to fling into the “national conversation”; the authors of this article and their outlet needed to involve everyone else in the ageist ragebait.
This is indeed eye-poppingly stupid, but I think the people they quoted have no idea what the age range of Gen Y even is. Also, maybe they do, but people very young often think anyone older than about 30 is “old”, so…shrug?

LOL, “superintelligence”.
Okay, gramps. That term already has a meaning, dumbass. People much smarter than you have written about it, like Nick Bostrom.
Anyone taking up calling artificial intelligence “SI” is a total idiot and/or a complete simp for donnie dumb-dumb and is not worthy of joining the adult table.
Also, the idea of corporations policing themselves is just a punch line to most people, but stable genius here thinks it is something to be taken Bigly Serious.

I could easily see them parroting that stupid bullshit that “Biden couldn’t even say what a woman is!”
I think you could probably make a guess based on this:
Drag queens are cool. Conservative women are gross. And that is what passes for journalism in 2025.

He came out looking dumber than Tommy Tuberville, at least in this case. And Tommy is dumber than a bag of hammers.
I did have to laugh that Foghorn Leghorn was right behind him, helping to hold up their little visual aid. That guy is actually not a blithering idiot [1] , but loves to adopt the accent of one and invent all kinds of crazy folksy sayings that no one has ever said. Foghorn is not stupid at all, but loooooves to come off like a yokel. Tommy and this guy Schmitt seem to be the real deal when it comes to idiocy.
[1] Kennedy went to Oxford and he was a fucking Rhodes scholar. I somehow doubt he was meandering around campus talking like the dumbest extra on Hee Haw with the most absurdly stereotypical accent. But I guess sounding like a smartypants isn’t going to play well with the people that are voting R.
theguardian.com/…/think-fake-news-isnt-a-real-pro…
Kennedy earned the highest honors at Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes scholar, and he was executive editor of the Virginia Law Review at the not-too-shabby University of Virginia law school.

Someone at work kept pretending he didn’t understand how people were telling him he was using company equipment to send out political content and to not do it again.
What he sent out via work email was a calculator on what the typical taxpayer could expect to pay for some measure on the ballot. People kept explaining to him that what he was sharing is inherently one-sided. You are only telling people what that measure would (allegedly) cost, without explaining how that would benefit society, or individuals, or their kids. Not only that, but the supposed math on that cost and the veracity and good faith of the site itself? Who knows.
He kept saying if people want to understand how it may benefit (which he would sarcastically intone when spoken - the scare quotes were there every single time he said it) they could read the ballot measure, since it explains what it does, but people should know what it would cost them.
He couldn’t understand that the dry language on the ballot is not really explaining all the potential upsides to society in general, etc.
I’m sure you could already guess that he’s a conservative and voted R all the time…he was completely outraged when people asked him to provide something that explained how the measure would do good things. Suddenly, his gaslighting pretense of merely being “apolitical” and “just providing tools that give people data” fell to pieces. He had zero interest in providing any data on the upsides. Weird how that works.

Yes. JFC.
Also, I wish the opposition would get it straight about who and what the conservatives are. I see lots and lots of what seems to be a concerted effort to try to split the opposition by peeling off just enough voters on this because there are instances of Democrats that are less than great on this one issue.
But the cons, especially if the Seven Mountain Mandate types get their way, have really dire things planned.
Claiming there is not a dime’s difference between the two is either really disingenuous, or dangerously naive.

Ha. I have a feeling that “boomers” went through the same arc. Probably more ink spilled about them than just about any other generation (Gen Y will probably come close - it’s just a numbers game, not any special property of any of these age demographics - Gen X is treated like the middle child just because we have lower numbers ), and how wayward they were as the 60’s generation/flower power generation, etc.
Over time though, “boomer” morphed into just another way of expressing ageism at older people instead of “the kids”.

Younger generations tend to get this kind of thing wrong, I’ve noticed. Sometimes cultural references are wildly wrong.
I saw some younger actress (?) on Jimmy Kimmel I think it was and she was referencing something obviously 80s-related, and then said something about “millennials”. Oof. That’s Peak Gen X stuff.
Jimmy didn’t comment on it, but he had to be thinking, WTF.

She sounds like one of those conservatives that is just fine with lording it over others when donnie is doing something terrible to other people, but then acts all hurt when people decided to cut ties with them: “why did they have to do this? All over politics? They cannot still just get along?”
Yeah, they love to pretend to not know that nearly everything is “politics” and they act totally hurt and confused when they get any consequences for their behaviors and their choices.

I think I’m missing even how his original claim was in any way a gotcha (other than trying to spring a “perjury trap” on Jack Smith).
Does him being in the same city as someone else mean he met with that person?
Is it somehow wrong to meet with the person this Senator was trying to claim Jack met with?
I don’t think the right does logic very well. They come off the exact same way when they are accusing Fauci as being the bad guy in a pandemic. It’s all terrible logic, any and all evidence swept up and flung at their adversary and lots of innuendo and so on.
So often, they just come off as so many hooting apes rooting for their own team. The outside observer who is not guided by these same vibes and feels only has to wonder at how they believe any of what they do has any kind of logic.

I remember someone was talking about some states and their anti-trans bills and how they would be just as accurate to call them the anti-Susie (or whatever their name was) Bill, since in some cases, there was like one known instance of this “issue” causing this stupid moral panic - in the entire fucking state.
I swear, the party that likes to talk about everyone else being a snowflake is constantly finding non-issues and things that are barely even a thing to get all worked up about. These are the same exact types that had fainting spells in the 80s over things like heavy metal lyrics and Dungeons and Dragons and supposed satanic cults and lots of other fantastical nonsense. In the 90s, especially after Columbine, they clutched their pearls over outsider kids wearing trenchcoats, playing videogames and listening to Marilyn Manson.
And now they are basically shaping an entire nation-state around women’s sports, FFS [1]. Keep in mind that these are the same group that sneer at things like the WNBA and women’s soccer, and that no one watches women’s sports.
Now they are calling in the fainting couches over something they mocked and derided (and probably still do).
[1] I say that because some of the voters that vote R claim it’s their #1 issue. I still am just agog at this notion. Imagine being so privileged that you have zero skin in the game for trans, and it’s your #1 issue? How the fuck is that even a thing?

I remember boomers saying and writing all kinds of stupid shit about Gen X.
Later the MSM chased the numbers and set up the cage match to be between boomers and Gen Y instead. Most of it seemed to be a lot of rehashed stuff we already heard as kids from people our parents age (if they were reactionary dumbasses; not all boomers of course - quite a few boomers were very awesome including my own parents). Including the internet thing, since many of Gen X cut their teeth on things like BBS and USENET and were founding all the dot com shit…
Craig and his list probably played a huge role in the demise of newspapers…ironically, he’s a boomer.
Same with people like Stuart Brand - boomer, and I looked up to him. It’s hilarious to hear boomers blaming Gen X or anyone younger for “internet bad”, LOL.

LOL, “restoring liberty”.
As usual, conservatives seem to be using the Southern definition of that word.
Also:
Americans who are alarmed by Trump should recognize the significance of the nation’s decline under progressive leaders. President Joe Biden drove the country to the far left, losing control of our borders, driving up the budget deficit and the national debt and imposing a progressive social agenda that ignored what most Americans believed.
What fucking universe do these people even live in? What decline? We had an economy that was the envy of the world at the end of 2024.
In no way is any sitting Democrat “far left”, nevermind Joe Biden. Also, “losing control of our borders”, drama much?

Yes, this. Even the most rather meh Democrat is going to be somebody you can probably move on the issues.
Obama was not for gay marriage, either. People forget that. Just because a candidate is not dying on some hill for sports while running doesn’t mean they are transphobic or will impose some transphobic agenda.
Meanwhile, the Republicans have members that want to murder people for being gay or trans.
Talarico still pledges to support a national ban on surgical interventions that help transgender youth, which may include top surgery or hormone implants.
This is some crazy bullshit. This kind of thing should be between parents, the youth, and their doctor(s). A national ban? WTAF. He definitely needs to be moved on that.

The writer of the stupid piece probably believes her life should be a series of “and everybody clapped” when she announces that she is a conservative.
Turns out, that is not how things work in general, and definitely not for holding vile views. Turns out that people have their own moral compass, and you may hear people pushing back on your disgusting worldview. Announcing you are a conservative in many scenarios is about as well-received as someone letting out a big broccoli fart on an elevator.
Also, to your point about being happy that their awful schemes are being implemented - I know of a few cons in my life that were devastated when Roe was overturned. They were hopping mad, in fact, and thought it was part of some liberal conspiracy to make cons look bad and kill turnout for the cons.
One of the key planks in their platform, achieved after about 50 years and constant fuckery with SCOTUS. They were boiling over with rage about it. You’d think they would be happy about it, but noooo.
Same for donnie getting elected in 2016. I noticed a huge uptick in simmering rage among cons I knew IRL, saw lots of viral videos where they were having meltdowns, and posters online in forums I was in seemed to have people just more angry than ever. This was a guy they adored, and he won, or at least “won”. And they were just mad about it. I don’t know if it’s because the media, the liberals in their lives, etc…didn’t do “and everybody clapped” for them? I have no idea. I think for some of them, they had people cutting them out of their lives. People finally had enough. I know of many instances in my life where someone known to have voted for donnie was cut out of social activities.
