@outofprintarchive@retro.pizza I was never huge on sony since day one despite loving the OG PlayStation and PSP/Vita, for all that anti-competitive stuff they did in the first two generations with Japanese retailers and Xbox, or the whole, buying publishers off the N64 and Saturn. But looking back, these guys were definitely better than what we have now for sure. But I doubt sony will see it that way unless their mistakes start to eat away at their bottom line.

@COMPU73E@retro.pizza I hope this makes sense, it was hard retyping this to fit into the word limit lol. But the overall point is that, while most realistic violence in games serves solely as a means to unlock a story, lore etc. while fighting against people actively trying to kill you. While GTA is only an actual fight for survival 10% of the time, with no real purpose. Outside of forced story moments (like the ending(s), I've skipped entire sections of this in GTA V and progressed the story just fine.

Got my Frieren 2 DVD set, the Dragon Ball GT DVD set is coming, and a few others that were on sale will arrive next week, straight from Japan for most of them since a handful there also have English subtitles options; which was a nice find. Looking forward to that.

@COMPU73E@retro.pizza As someone who indulged in similar media in my teens, like gory anime/VNs and games with realistic violence, it never bothered me. But GTA almost glorifies it like it's the sole focus to murder random (not out for your head like zombies) "people" looking people. Unlike clearly distinguishable "un-deads" with lore and different endings to unlock like COD Zombies which, while realistic, gives you objectives to focus on instead while making the zombies more of an obstacle to get there.

@outofprintarchive@retro.pizza Right? I kinda lost the last of my interest in sony with Jim Ryan, then when I heard Phil Spencer was stepping down, I decided I'd see if Xbox had got any better. Frankly, the guys in charge of the early PS4 for sony, and Xbox 360 for Xbox were the last ones I was genuinely excited for. But it's clear to me that buying a new PlayStation or Xbox is off the table for the foreseeable future, all my console hopes are in Nintendo now.
