I used to have a therapist who told me I needed to forgive my past abusers in order to heal, but she couldn't tell me how to do that or what it meant, which was very frustrating. That's when I looked into it a lot. She suggested that I was holding onto anger and trauma, but I know what it feels like to actively do that. I don't think I was. I think I was just still hurt.

It was frustrating though, because she was like "You need to forgive" and gave me all these resources about how forgiveness is something you do for yourself, and then when I was like "how do you do it though", every answer I could find was like "well you stop feeling bad".

I read that what's happening is the "biggest rupture in the Catholic church since 1988", but I'm gonna be so real: I do not know what happened in the Catholic church in 1988.

The dose of the selegiline is pretty low, so I'd be surprised if taking a therapeutic dose of Ritalin with it was fatal. But it's not a risk I'm willing to take, and even if it's not fatal, it could be unpleasant.

Whenever I hear someone use "death metal" to mean "metal" or surrounding genres, it reminds me of when I would mention bands to my grandmom, and her default response was "Are they acid rock?" This was, to my knowledge, not a bit.

I'm not telling you this because I think the distinction is super important, I'm telling you this because if you call all metal "death metal", you sound a thousand years old.

Also, resentment, anger, and guilt are all emotions you can feel without actively "holding onto" them.

You can prevent yourself from forgiving by actively holding onto resentment or torturing yourself with guilt, but if you stop doing those things, that doesn't mean forgiveness happens immediately, you know? It just clears the way for forgiveness to take place.
