Finally got the Macintosh 512Ke on #GlobalTalk ! I couldn't find a Phone Net box with a DB9 connector, and my attempts to bodge one together weren't working. Picked up a DB9 LocalTalk connector for less than $10. Now I'm ready for next year's #MARCHintosh , or #Apriltosh , or maybe #AprilApples (though I think LocalTalk only worked on the IIgs.)
@_the_cloud@mastodon.social If you come across another one of those localtalk connectors please let me know!

This is for #GlobalTalk.

edit : GOD DAMN IT. The documentation fails to mention that I should be editing THIS file:

/usr/local/etc/afp.conf.

I spent hours editing /etc/netatalk/afp.conf, and thought I was going insane.

I've been over the netatalk documentation multiple times last night. I tried setting log level to "default:debug9" but the journal isn't being spammed with events like I expect. So I don't even know where to start troubleshooting - permissions, an incorrect setting, etc.

The RPi is registered on my AppleTalk network just fine; I can see the device from my AIR Mac. It has a valid network number, and I can send AppleTalk echo packets to it with MacPing Pro (AT, not TCP).

Suggestions?
@theirongiant@hachyderm.io Is there a premade pi image or do you have to compile it?
Open post BMWCyclist @BMWCyclist@mastodon.social · 5mo ago Replying to @theirongiant@hachyderm.io @BMWCyclist@mastodon.social - version 4.2.3 is available for Pi, and the author assured me that it has AppleTalk enabled by default (that was not the case last year). I was compiling the latest version from source on a spare RPi. @theirongiant@hachyderm.io Thanks!
